Also that year, Kirk made contact with Khan Noonien Singh, a leader from the 1990s Eugenics Wars. When they find his drifing ship, an old-style pre-warp sleeper, the S.S. Botany Bay. Khan is wakened from his stasis and reverts back to his controlling self that took over a quarter of the Earth in his day. With the help of Lieutenant Marla McGivers, Khan takes over Enterprise. However, when her loyalties come into question, McGivers helps Kirk regain control of his ship. The end result sees McGivers, Khan and his crew to the lush planet, Ceti Alpha VI.
Jim's brother, George Samuel, a research biologist, and his wife Aurelan were killed at Deneva by flying parasites. Their son, Peter, survived, and went to Earth to live with Kirk's mother.
By this time, Kirk was well known throughout the galaxy. He had received the Palm Leaf of the Axanar Peace Mission, the Granite Order of The Grankite Order of Tactics, a Class of Excellence award, the Prantares Ribbon of Commendation, First and Second Class, the Medal of Honor, a Silver Palm with Cluster, the Starfleet Citation for Conspicuous Gallantry, the Karagite Order of Heroism and several Awards of Valor. Kirk's best friend and science officer, Spock, dies while trying to realign Enterprise's the dilithium crystals. In a moving ceremony where even Saavik was teary eyed, they committed his body to the new planet created by the Genesis project.
After returning to Earth, Spock's father Sarek visits Kirk and asks him to return his son to Mount Seleya for it is only his body that is dead. However, Starfleet wants to keep Genesis hush-hush, and no one is permitted to even speak of it. Kirk, Scotty, McCoy, Chekov and Sulu take the Enterprise without permission to retrieve Spock's body as per Sarek's request. Uhura will meet them on Vulcan. When the Klingons intercept Enterprise's renegade mission, Kird devises a way to save all on board. Enterprise's auto destruct sequence is initialized and the crew hijack the Klingon ship for transport to Vulcan. Unfortunately, on the Genesis surface, things did not go well. The planet is unstable and the U.S.S. Grissom was destroyed by the Klingons trapping Lieutenant Saavik and David Marcus on the planet with a rapidly aging, and very much alive, Vulcan boy. When the Klingon Captain Kruge decides to kill one of the three hostages in order to prove to Kirk he's not kidding, David is on the other end of the Klingon knife when he throws himself in the way to spare Saavik's life.
The journey to Mount Seleya was successful, and Spock is indeed alive, though with only a few memories of the people with whom he served for so long. After a self-imposed excile on Vulcan, Kirk finally decides to take the Klingon ship back to Earth to face the nine charges against him by Starfleet. On the return trip home, an orb omitting a warbled distress beacon is threatening destroy Earth. Ends up the beacon talks with humpback whales, a species that has long been extinct on Earth. Kirk and the crew time travel back to 1986 to obtain a couple of humpback whales to bring them back to the future and save the planet (again).

Yes, Captain Kirk. It was fun. Very much so.
James T. Kirk was born on March 22nd, in Riverside, Iowa.
As a thirteen year old, Jim witnessed the massacre of 4000 people during the famine on Tursus IV. The govenor of Tursus IV was dubbed Kodos "The Executioner".
A seventeen year old James Kirk entered Starfleet with help from Mallory, a family friend.
For most of his Starfleet Academy days, Kirk was tormented by an arrogant upperclassman named Finnegan.
As an older cadet, he served as an instructor, where Gary Mitchell was one of his students and later his best friend, saving his life on Dimorus.
Cadet Kirk graduated from SFA where he majored in Interplanetary Relations under Professor John Gill. Under promotion of Lieutenant, Jim was posted to the U.S.S. Farragut NCC-1702 where he served under Captain Garrovick.
As a young Lieutenant Commander, Kirk went to the destroyer U.S.S. Alexander. A Klingon encounter causes the captain's death and James T. Kirk experiences his first command position.
Kirk's only son, David Marcus was born. Carol Marcus raised him as a single mother.
Commander Kirk was promoted to Captain. He gained commission of the almost-new U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 for a five year mission. At the tender age of 30, James T. Kirk went down in the history books as the yougest captain ever in Starfleet.
Jim was the first captain ever to stand trial for a wrongful death charge. He was exonerated of the charge of death of his best friend whom he met on the Republic, Benjamin Finney.
He and the crew of Enterprise found a barely aged Zephram Chochrane. Cochrane disappeared in 2117.
The 430 member crew of Enterprise returned from their five year mission. Kirk accepted a promotion to Admiral and headed to Earth where he was in charge of Fleet Operations.
Before the beginning of the second five year mission of Enterprise, Admiral Kirk relieved Captain Will Decker (who was his own choice as the Enterprise refit) and dealt with the V'Ger crisis, with help from Spock.
Kirk accepts appointment to Starfleet Academy faculty adn moves into a San Francisco apartment.
Dated a woman named Antonia. He should have married her, and regrets that he didn't.
Jim met his adult son, David Marcus, while fighting old foe, Khan Noonien Singh for the Genesis project. The project could 'create life out of lifelessness'. Carol had shielded their son from Jim because she didn't want David gallavanting across the galaxy like his father. Until he found out about Jim, David had a sour distaste for the Jim Kirk he thought he knew of.
Kirk was charged and convicted of stealing the Enterprise. His sentence: demotion to Captain rank. He is then given command of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701 A
After a brief vacation to Yosemite, Kirk's new ship, the refit Enterprise is ordered to go to Nimbus III to abort a terrorist crisis and rescue three hostages - Klingon General Korrd, Romulan Caithlin Dar and Federation counsel St. John Talbot. While there, his ship was hijacked by Sybok (Spock's half brother). Sybok's mission was to find 'Sha Ka Ree'. He takes the starship beyond the great barrier to find that whom he thinks is God.
When Kirk and McCoy are wrongfully accused of the murder of Klingon Chancellor Gorkon, in an effort to save peace between the Federation and the Klingon empire, the sentence of death is lowered to life on the penal asteroid Rura Penthe. Kirk spearheads initiatives leading to the Khitomer accords and reveals an anti-peace conspiracy involving Gerneral Chang, Lieutenant Valeris, Admiral West and other high ranking Starfleet officals. Escaping the asteroid, they make it to the peace talks just in time to save Gorkon's daughter, the new Chancellor Azetbur.
Just as Kirk is about to retire, when he, Chekov and Scotty make an appearance of the maiden voyage of the new U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B when during the media interiews, Enterprise receives a distress call from two El-Aurian transport ships. They are caught an unknown energy ribbon. Enterprise gets there in time to transport most of the El-Aurians, including Guinan, to the ship. When Enterprise is threatend by the same energy ribbon, Kirk goes to the lower decks to work on the deflector arrays. It appears Kirk had been killed when part of the energy ribbion struck the ship in the same location Kirk had been.
In an attempt to abort Soran's plans to destroy a whole planet in order to regain entry into the energry ribbon known as the 'Nexus', Captain Jean-Luc Picard finds himself in the Nexus as well where he convinces a very happy and very much alive Iowa farmer to come back for one more adventure, to make a differnce. Captain Kirk agrees and leaves the 'Nexus' in order to stop Soran. In a scuffle and a fall, Kirk dies for real, with his last words to Jean-Luc Picard being, "It was fun... oh my".
