FC's Sci-Fi\Paranormal TV Community Newsletter

This letter is currently managed by the CG
for the Sci Fi TV Community.
Please see the end of the message for
obligatory details.

Hi!
This is the first edition of the
Sci Fi/Paranormal TV Community Newsletter.
[Unfortunately, I have still to come up with a catchy
name for the community, so I guess you'll just have to suffer with
that as an introduction.]
Since you have received this, you might have deduced that I have
sent this newsletter to all the blessed people on the roster list -
regardless if they signed up for regular newsletter mailings. This is
a rare event [ie. will only occur if there is a un-natural disaster
or something of this nature]... I am just using this as a secondary
email address test. This also serves as a test for community spirit,
so if you get one and don't ever want to see another one [please
don't tell me you now want to run away! - hints of Monty Python], let
me know and I'll try not to send you one again.
Anyway, just thought I'd write this out and update you all on what
has happened in the Community so far. Sure, nothing much has
happened, but we are now a few more members bigger, and messages and
votes have managed to find their way onto our own message board and
voting booth- and not all of them are mine!
For those of you that bothered to drop by one day and read any of
the messages I poured my heart, soul and time [note: no mind
mentioned] into [hint, hint], many thanks?. And for those of you that
haven't made it in yet? hey! [whimper, whimper?]
Anyways, notes and news are below. So check 'em out, if you have
the time!
Shoot the Moon,
KAY, the CG
PS: When will the next lame installment of this newsletter be?
Since I haven't written it yet, you can still give me any advice
[besides not making one], suggestions [besides not making one],
questions [besides "why are you making one?"] and submissions [if you
want to receive something that is not all written by me, etc.]! Send
ideas to [email protected]

COMMUNITY NEWS
*******************
1. After the first turbulent months, I think I've finally got some
site navigation going- ie. the links seem to be functional. However,
since I really only use one browser, I don't really know how well my
navigation system is working. If you come in to any problems, or get
stuck/lost/confused, please let me know and I'll try to remedy it as
quickly as possible.
2. I have also managed to create the prototype of the Star Award.
As described on site, the Star Award is a specific award
I will be handing out to "Site/s of the Month". If you'd like to
nominate someone in the community - yes, it can be yourself, - send
your votes to me at [email protected].
You can also come and gawk at the "plain" version of the award,
which I have posted on the website. [I have a better looking one
just waiting to be displayed on someone's pages!}
3. The contests are up and running!
As mentioned on the Contests page, We have THREE ego-centered contests:
One for a good Community Name [ie. to replace "Sci Fi TV Community"],
One for a good community subtitle or motto [ie. to replace the "Space
Monkey" references; I couldn't think of anything else,] and
One for a community logo.
Another CG, Zonker (Celtic Community) has made me a small-animated
HQ logo that is currently in use.
4. A new (silly) question in our voting booth was put in last month.
Come out and vote!
5. The Community Webring has also been made.
Designed to link our pages together, feel free to sign up your site!
6. I have also set up a fledgling Games Room.
If you'd like to take a crack at raising your own Tribble and or
laugh at my attempts to alter JavaScript and still have it work, come
and check it out!
7. I'd also like to invite you all to pay a visit to all your
community neighbours? sign their guestbooks, read their fanfics, gawk
at their picture galleries, learn about their favourite shows? send
them a nice note- or a greeting card! [Submissions for pics in our
E-Card gallery are invited!]
8. Sci Fi HQ is now networded! To go along with our shortcut URL
supplied by Bravenet (http://clix.to/scitv),
the HQ site is also accessible by using Netword (keyword: scitv).
If you'd like to know more about Netword, send me a note- I don't
feel like writing a whole explanation here.
9. A lot more Community news is listed on our message board. Come and
post your ideas and news too!

IN CLOSING
************
Anyways, just thought I'd like to end off with another thank you,
not just for reading this newsletter, but also for joining the
community. We are small now, but I hope that in time we will
continue to grow.
I was actually hoping to end here on a profound note, but I have
again drawn a blank.
This was to be a friendly newsletter- although I'm not quite sure
of what it rapidly morphed into - but I hope you feel welcome enough
to continue to hang around. After all, I happily built- and am
currently trying to get myself to renovate - [suggestions, anyone?]
- this HQ for you!
Shoot the Moon, Put out the Sun,
KAY
