John goes to the Sanctuary Station now that he has "gone career". On his way to the to the academy he is suprised to meet his father! After the death of his wife, John's father enlisted with the Mobile Infantry to fight the bugs. He is assigned to the Roughtneck's unit. In this long chapter John attends many courses. In one of the courses, he must tackle many ethical problems facing new officers. He eventually "graduates" to the "temporary" rank of third lieutenant, barely an officer!
