The Hendrick story will be hard on Johnnie and he will decide to resign. But bad timing prevents that situation. He receives a letter from his mother and one of his teachers Mr. Dubois. The letter from his mother just informs him that his father has begin to except John's inlistment more. The letter from Mr. Dubois is just to say how proud he is of John for becoming a recruit.
