Listen to me Rant about:
Yes, Yet again we have our
Presidential elections coming. It is our duty to choose what we feel
is the best man (or sometime in the future - however distant - a woman)
to be the leader of the free world. He should be a decent
leader that won't make you cringe whenever he talks to other foreign leaders.
Noone wants a president who you were ashamed of ! And though
I think that President Clinton (despite his problems with morality)
did an excellent job in the oval office, I still don't think - and I bet
neither do you - that Vice President Gore would make a good president !
But, yet again, the other choice for president is
not a good choice either ! I began to think that
there should be more choices for us normal citizens of this democratic
system to vote for than just two men. And, please, don't try
to mention anything about an Independent party ! What kind
of democracy is it when you only have a choice between two morons who promise
so many things that any normal and (hopefully) right thinking people would
know won't happen ! So I decided to do another "Rant Page"
about what I think of this
sad example of democracy
not at work !
Don't get me wrong - our
democracy is a shining light compared to most other governments in the
world ! But the problem is that back when the constitution
was made, there really was no need for more than 2 Parties (or way of thinking)
to choose from. There was the Democratic
party (whose ideals were to support and defend the ordinary men
and women of the country) and the republican
party (notice the small r) whose ideals were to support
the conservative (lets keep the status quo) and for the rich. You
probably can tell which party system I lean toward to - sorry you republicans
- but I also have to say that I don't just support all Democrats running
for office. Anybody who is dumb enough to vote for all republican
- or all Democratic - candidates should have their head examined
! But now after more than 200 years later, our democratic
system should be revamped ! There are too many different "interests"
in this country for their to be only two choices for president !
These presidential hopefuls have to make too many compromises to their
political agenda to please all of us different voters and political "interests"
of this country. Maybe if we had more political parties to
choose from - whose candidates were not so wishy-washy about what they
will do when " I'm in office ", we would probably feel better about
choosing who we want to REPRESENT US as the President of These United
States ! It just doesn't cut it anymore
to choose the
"
lesser of two evils " !
