Mine is mine, and Marvel's is marvel's.
Tabitha woke up early the next morning. Sami was still asleep, curled into a little ball. Tabitha tried to ignore the tears that threatened in her eyes. Sam had always slept like that.
By the time that Tabitha was showered and dressed Sami was awake. The tiny child was hoping around the room in excitement.
"Mommy, Mommy, this place looks neat! And there is snow on the ground! Can we go play Mommy? Can we?" Sami cried, leaping around the room.
"Don't you wanna eat breakfast first?" Tabitha asked her daughter. Sami stopped for a minute to consider.
"What are we having?" Sami asked.
"I don't know. I guess we'll just have to go find out." Tabitha smiled.
They were interrupted by a knock on the door. Tabitha went to answer it, calling back over her shoulder, "Sami find something to wear!"
Standing on the other side of the door was a very pregnant brunette. She had large green eyes, and a beautiful smile on her face.
'Hello," she said with a pronounced English accent. "I'm Kit Rasputin."
"Hi." Tabitha said softly. "Are you Piotr's wife?"
"Uh-huh. Who are you?" Kit asked smiling still.
"I'm Tabitha Smith." Tabitha introduced herself.
"And I'm Sami!" The child pushed her way in front of her mother. "What's wrong with your tummy?"
Tabitha looked embarrassed but Kit just laughed. "I'm going to have a baby."
"Really? Mommy, was I in your tummy?" Sami asked her mother.
"Yes you were." Tabitha told the little girl.
"Oh. How'd I get out?" Sami asked.
Tabitha sighed. She knew that was coming. "You came out of my stomach."
"I know that. How'd I get out of your tummy?" Sami demanded. Kit was watching the whole scene with amusement.
"Dr. Heather took you out." Tabitha told her.
"How?" Sami asked.
"She cut my tummy open." Tabitha explained, shaking her head at her daughter's endless questions.
"Why?" The child gaped at her mother.
Tabitha heaved a great sigh. How do you explain a c-section to a four-year-old? "Okay, when you were in my tummy you had tube that feed you."
"A tube?" Sami cried, her eyes round.
"Yes. That is what your bellybutton is, where your tube was." Tabitha said.
"Oh." Sami's eyes lit up with understanding.
"So when you were in my tummy, and you were just getting ready to come out, the tube got wrapped around your throat. Because you couldn't come out the normal way, Dr. Heather cut my stomach open and took you out. Understand?" Tabitha said.
"Yes. But what's the normal way?" Sami asked.
Tabitha groaned. She should have known that was coming. "Out of my bottom." Tabitha said finally.
Sami nodded. Then she got a confused look on her face. "But how did I get in your tummy?"
Tabitha smacked herself in the forehead. Kit was still watching from the doorway. "Alright. Um, let's see. When a mommy and a daddy love each other, they uh, they just love each other. Then they make the baby together and put it in the mommy." Tabitha breathed a sigh of relief.
"How come they put it in the mommy?" Sami asked.
"Because, the daddy isn't made right to have a baby in them." Tabitha said.
"Oh, I get it now! Neat! When can I have a baby?" Sami asked, jumping up and down.
"Not for a very long time. More then fifteen years." Tabitha said. Sami nodded, then went to find some clothes to put on. Kit applauded from the hallway.
"I'm very impressed. Curious little thing isn't she?" Kit laughed, putting a hand on her stomach.
Tabitha sighed. "Thanks. And good Lord yes, she is curious. She wants to know about everything! And stupid me, I normally tell her."
"Yeah, but that's a good way to teach kids. I guess, anyway. She certainly seems bright." Kit complimented.
"Thank you." Tabitha smiled.
"I'm going to have to remember that explanation of yours." Kit murmured. Then she seemed to remember something. "I came up here to tell you that breakfast is ready."
"Oh, okay. Me and Sami will be right down." Tabitha promised, looking over at her daughter who was trying to pull her jeans on over her pjs.
"Take yer time. Breakfast usually lasts fer hours if nobody is training. And since all of yer are here, Xavier decided to forgo the training for the next two weeks. Kind of like a Christmas present." Kit told the Tabitha.
"Okay thanks. I'll see you there then?" Tabitha asked.
"Probably. I'm eatin' fer three nowadays." Kit laughed, looking at her stomach.
"Twins?" Tabitha asked, smiling.
"Yeah. Hey, when my husband does somethin' he does it right!" Kit giggled, waving as she waddled away.
Tabitha grinned. She was a nice lady. Tabitha took a deep breath. (Okay, Tabs, you can do this. Just don't panic.)
"Mommy! Look I dressed myself!" Sami cried. Tabitha looked over at her daughter. Her sweater was on backward and inside out, and her jeans were backwards too. Her hair was tangled horribly and she had one red sock and one blue sock on. Tabitha laughed softly then sighed. Time to be a mom once again.
