Rifle Range

Welcome to the Rifle Range

Me
Me in the Offhand (standing) position.

I have a good picture of a pinwheel,
but I need to scan it again since I messed up the first time.

Let me tell you alittle bit about the sport of Riflery...

Riflery is a very fun, yet very stressing sport. We DO NOT shoot animals, we shoot pellets at targets barely larger than a quarter, from a distance of 10 meters. The bullseye of these targets is just big enough for a pellet to go through and leave the white line. We shoot 1/4 course (one of everything) just about everyday until a few weeks before Regions, Unless we have a bad day then who knows what Coach will make us shoot. We shoot 1 prone (laying down) 1 offhand (standing) and 1 kneeling. During the weeks before Regions we begin shooting 1/2 course (2 of everything).

To be a good shooter one has to be physicaly and mentaly fit. You must have endurance, especially for offhand because there's no sling to help support the weight of the rifle. Trust me those rifles can get very heavy, especially after your third or fourth offhand. Not that I mind, offhand is my favorite position. Anyways, you have to go cold turkey to get off the caffine addiction, most of us are good about this but some aren't and well they don't shoot for very long. You can drink soda and most of us do but only on the weekends, like Friday after a meet or on Saturday. Sunday is detox day. You also need to have a great deal of self-control, to keep away form sugar and caffine, and to also be able to slow your heart beat and calm down. You need to be able to ignore other people around you so you can concentrate on the shot. You know get into your "bubble" or "zone out." This sport requires the shooter to have a great deal of patience. Since it does not come easy most of the time even though we make it look easy. : )

I have added some more pics, I don't know how to make thumbnails (please tell me if you know how.)
Here they are...

Tom in the prone position.
Me in the offhand position.
Jenny in the kneeling position.

I will have some links to other Riflery pages in the future, and some more pics. But my head hurts so I'm gonna go chow down.
