Atticus Finch: One to Be Admired

In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus is a very admirable man. He is someone that we wish everyone was like. If there were much more people like him, we wouldnt have all the hate and violence that we have today. He is truly remarkable. Because Atticus Finch works hard and is humble, he should be placed among the elite fictional characters.

Atticus works very hard and is very humble. An example of his both these attributes is in the trial with Tom Robinson. Although he knew he didnt have a chance and he would be ridiculed if he tried to defend a Negro, he still worked hard to try and win the case for the well-being of everyone. Another example is that he tried hard to make Jem and Scout the best people they could be. He did everything in his power to make them good on the outside, as well as in the heart. He was a very humble person. He was always quiet unless it was absolutely necessary for him to raise his voice. He was nice to everyone, even Ms. Dubose, who was regarded as the meanest lady in Maycomb. Even if he was threatened, as in the incident at the jailhouse, he treated Mr. Cunningham and his gang with respect. Although his life may have been in danger, he didnt lose his cool and attack them. He did not provoke them or did anything that could have hurt their demeanor. He also was winning in the aspect that he wasnt going to be pushed around.

Atticus Finch is someone that, although he is fictional, ought to be considered a role model to all people. Throughout the book I have held a high opinion of him. This is simply because of the reasons I stated above and the fact that he has many other qualities that put him above other normal people. He has a great mind, and he uses it in the right way. Out of all the other people in To Kill a Mockingbird, he is the one I most enjoyed reading about.
