HEMRATA
Bio owned/created by Beth Strong
Don't you just hate it when Maat smacks you with her left hand?
Hemrata
Name: Hemrata (meaning Sister of the Sand)
Elvish name: Hysinthaley (pronouced HY-syn-THA-lay meaning She who walks in Serinity)
Age: 40 (when mummified)
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 135 (Living) 121 (Mummified)
Hair: Black/brown with red highlights. Long fine straight. Short bangs. Length half way down the back. Worn in typical Egyptian style. Green head band. Two thin braids at sides of temples beaded with many gold and turquoise beads, at the ends each weighted with long thin gold pyramids. Mummified her hair color is snow silver colored
Eyes: Hazel/grey. Tend to change color with her moods. An oddity in Egypt. With a slight slant to them. Has the eyes of an elf.
Skin: Light golden brown, not quite as dark as a normal Egyptian due to her mixed blood. Mummified her skin has the same blue color as Rath's.
Physical Appearance: Long limbed, lean muscled, excellant proportioned body. Curvey, but very lithe. Great legs! When alive had a large bust (a gift from her mother.) Never looked her age when alive, always had a very youthful face. Face is heart sharped with strong jaw line. High brow. Small angular nose.
Very attractive, rather comely with her exotic looks.
Race: Half Egyptain, half Celtic blood
Parents and Family: Father, Rath. Mother, Elspeth Ashake Coulter.
Siblings: Younger brother, Tharankenat (true Celtic name Eluthian). Uncle, Setanakt. Older brother and sister, a set of twins for an alternant timeline: Siptah, sister, and Cheftu brother. (The events leading up to this time paradox will explained in a future fan fiction.) She never married or had children.
Birth Mark: on right side of her neck left eyed Wedjet (Eye of Ra) with Maat's feather. Mark is red.
Occupation: In ancient Msir, Hemrata was a jack of all trades. Magic, martial arts, scribing, healing. Thar was her better in magic. But she had great touches with fire and water magic that she taught to Menehotep. Was installed as a Royal Gaurdian when Hemrata saved Hepshetsut from assination.
Magic: Hemrata was a born healer like her mother, but without having anyone to teach to proper use of this rare gift, it took a long time to manifest itself in the proper way. She could lower fevers, and sing pain away, and could cure any poison. The boys were crazy about her, but she was never interested.
Personality: Very much the spit fire! Hemrata is the anthyasis of the melting submissive Egyptian female born to serve the men in her life. Even though she looks Msirian after her father, Rath, her soul is that of Celt! Hates to be beholden, or out of control. Temprimental to a fault. But secreative at the same time.
Out of all her siblings, she is the one most like Ashake. This could explain Rath's weakness for his daughter. Though Rath has
met all his children and loves them all equally, it is Hemrata who can twist the stuffy scribe around her little finger with a pout and head resting on his arms, in a heartbeat!
Intelligent, sarcastic, whimiscal when need be, with a smile that can melt the coldest heart. Can be sullen and very quiet if unsettled. Has a tendacy to look before leaping into combat.
Simply loves a good scrape. Hemrata is the most physically active of her sibs. Works out constantly. Always tries to improve her sword technique.
Animal totem: unicorn or white cobra
Armor: Silver, sapphire, jade. Armor is exactly like Rath's except for the color scheme. Her sword is not a wide sickle shaped khepresh. Hemrata opted for a long Celtic long sword with gold wrapped cobra handle. Her amulet is a silver cobra
God: Hemrata follows to goddesses: Kwan Yin, Lady of Mercy and the Indian goddess Parvati. But she also pays homage to some Egytpian gods. But holds strong ties to Ptah.
Jewerly: Wears a copper Celtic torc on her upper left arm. The only thing she could keep as a reminder of her mother. Silver lotus and ankh earrings. Her ears are multiple peirced with rings and studs.
History: Hemrata's past is from the fan fiction Cobra of a Different Skin. She knows little her father, Rath, who died defending Prince Rapses when she was only three years old. Her mother, Ashake, left her when she was five due to circumstance beyond her control. Tharankhenat was two at the time. Her brother remembers little of his true mother save that she had the lovelist voice, a bright laughter, lots of magic in her, and her ever changing eye color.
However, Hemrata, does remember Ashake very much. Over the years the young sword mistress, faught a long verbal battle with her uncle, Setanekt, as to who she was. Setanekt felt that Ashake betrayed him by refusing to marring him after Rath's death. As a last means of coersing the bard into marrage, he petitioned Tuthmosis for custody of his brother's children. By Egyptain law, men owed their children, not the women. Setanakt won. Ashake left Msir, returning to her land of Britanian leaving her children in his care.
Over the years, Setanakt tried to poison his charges minds against the image of the mother, by telling then she was their aunt. Hemrata never really beleived him and spent several years trying to uncover her past. But all records of her exsistance in Amemehotep's court disappeared. Her uncle destoried hundreds of Rath and Ashake's personal scrolls and journals, ones that had anything to with Celtic bard's knowledge. In his hate, he nearly burned down all Rath's complete library. This is the reason why there were not many scrolls left for the generations of Egyptians to come.
Hemrata saved what she could from the fire and uncovered the several hiddening places over the years where the rest were kept. The fighter turned the scrolls over to Tharankhenat for safe keeping. It was Princess Menehotep who the inheirited this precious cache of power.
Her relationship with her uncle was strained at best. She does care for him, blood is thicker than water. But still feels an inner angst towards him about hiding her true past. For what reasons, she does not know.
Tharankhenat is her loving younger brother. Their realtionsthip is a strong competion as to who can out do whom. Thar is her better in magic, but she was the one who taught him how to fight.
As a child she was constantly fighting with him, wrestiling him to the ground in a very un ladylike way. She was always defending him from the bullies in scribe's school who mocked his skin color which was not as dark as theirs. Rumors spread like wildfire abut his inferior tainted blood. Thar learned the hard way that he was only half Egyptian in time. But Hemrata came to his rescue more than once. They love each other dearly, but snipe as siblings do.
Hemrata is a highly skilled martial artist and the best sword dancer in all of Msir! She took after Ashake as a fighter.
She excelled at all the fundementals of Egypt-su even traveling great distances to learn other martial skills from traveling foreingers. The combined knowledge made her a deadly advisary.
Hemrata served the Phaorah as the first female Bodygaurd to Princess Menehotep. This created quite a stir with the Msir court! Hemrata was obssessed with finding out why Prince Rapses died the way he did so unexpectedly. In her findings, she spoke with the actual embalers of the Rapses' Bodygaurds and came upon a startly piece of evidence. That the charioteer Nefer was really a female! A secret kept by them. If Nefer could do it so could she. Nefer become her role model in the years to come. Hemrata met with an unforturnate end. She was found dead while on royal mission. Most say her heart gave out. But Thar suspected foul play, but could not prove it. Thar saw to his sister's burial. And entombed her within Ashake's empty tomb as her request in life. Thar felt bereft of his beloved sib's death. Having outlived his sister and father, Thar never smiled much after that.
Modern History: In modern day San Francisco, Amamda Carnavon was lucky enough to get call from her ex-husband. He had just uncovered the elusive tomb of an unknown personage linked to Phaoroh's Amemhotep's time. And also had many of her lost scrolls. Imagine their surprize when, the archeologists opened an Egyptain tomb and found Celtic and Chinese drawings mixed in with the normal Msirian! This was a find and a paradox.
Amanda called a friend Marianne(fill in last name, theresa)
who was put on the next flight to Egypt to cover that find.
During the tombs excavation, she meets a Charles Quinn Cassidy, a Welsh photographer/research investagator from New York's Celt Today magazine. Charles takes an immediatly liking to Marianne. And the feeling is very mutual!
On arrival in San Fransicso, Scarab tries to get Hemrata's sarcoughagus. Presley and Mummies are there to thwart his nefarious scheme. To a point, Thar bungles a crucial spell that accidentally teleports their enemy with the sarcophagus away from harm. Everybody looks at the python mage in angst. Thar feeling that he's to blame unlists the help of Armon and they break into Scarab's black pyramid to get Hemrata out. During a funny and heroic rescue, the Hemrata is awakened and is really p****ed off.
Hefting the box on one shoulder, Armon and group make a hasty departure with old Purpleness on their heels. With Nefertina driving and Shabties in pursuit, Hemrata feels right at home.
A short battle and many broken clay faces later, the Hotra pulls into the Sphinx, with four happy gaurdians. Of course the arrival of a new mummy causes the others to take notice. Hemrata keeps her cool with all the faces and questions.
Hobbies: Hemrata is a born tinkerer like her father and mother. She possesses a keen mind for mechanics and building new things.
She will spent hours taking apart anything just to see how it works. She helps Rath and Ashake with the endless taskes of repairing the Mummies vehicles.
Hemrata read trashy romance novels. Addicted to soap operas and professional wrestling programs on the spirit box. Or the computer games Presley is so fond of. Donuts and sushi are her weaknesses.
She is without a doubt the best martial artist of the entire Mummy group. She can take on four opponants and beat them two out of three times. Something the others can not stand.
Bad Habits: Hemrata has taken up some of Ashake's habits of drinking, smoking, and swearing. Like mother like daughter.
She also has Rath's curiousity about new things. This leads her into trouble time and time agian.
Relationships with the Mummies: Hemrata's feelings towards the entire group will take time. Being so new to the group.
Jakal--Will take orders form him. But constantly testes his authority with questions. Feels he needs to lighten up on the others and let them have more fun.
Armon--These two pal around like brother and sister.
Nefertina--Hemrata gives her more respect that Jakal. This was her role model whom she looked up to. The charioteer is very happy to have a fan club.
Rath and Ashake--The reunion of mother and daughter was very tearfull and joyious. Rath felt very out of place. He never met his daughter before. He feels he let his family down by leaving them alone. Hemrata is forgiving and starts their relationship by being friends. It is a begining.
Tharankhenat--Party hardy! The twosome are tight, but they bicker a lot.
Trynia Amerin--Hemrata remembers her brother's wife. Both have a stable and lasting friendship.
Lyris--Does not know what to make of this new comer. The rest of the Forgotten Warriors will be won over in time.
Special Powers--Hemrata at will can "jam" magic and psionics. Nullifing all abilities for certain amount of time this includes being able to transform into mystic armor! It is she alone that keeps Scarab's black searchings at bay from finding their hide out or keeps the reborn Prince safe. She takes her powers for granted not really knowing what a tremedous service she does for the Mummies.
Hemrata is telepathic. She can also cloak or blur herself from being traced magically. Only Rath can track her.
Hemrata also can transform in her Nagina form at will. A gift from her mother, Ashake. In this form, she has only two arms instead of four. Her lower snake half is bronze colored with russet and gold marbled speckled bands.
