JAVA GODDESS WORLD OF MUMMIES ALIVE POEMS PART 2
*throws rainbow confetti* (ok farfare is over!)
Thorns -- Kalia written by Elizabeth Strong
I sit amid dusty scrolls
Papyrus invades my very soul
My life is lonely, no kindred spirits
Nor friends who understand or care
I sought fellowship in books
Fed my hungrey mind with tales
Male company I never craved
In seeking love I often failed
I remember my first love clearly
A randy youth of the gallent character
Who served in the Pharoah's command
The first blush of affections still on me face
whenever he came here
Ah the folly of my youth
He sought my hand with great endeavor
I felt that love had finally found me
Until I found him trysting in the shade
My heart turned cold and hard
In the garden I hear her sing
Ashake, Pharoah's Eye, voice on heaven's wing
Greatest among the Royal Gaurdians
In pharoah's court, all give her naught by despair
for she treads a path few women dare
In her a sense a hidden strength
I wish I had . .but her friendship I keep at arm's length
She is the Queen's Favorite bard
Her songs are of places I never knew
Not Greece, or Arabian, nor Syrian
Her true home lies far to the north
Ashake calles it by an odd name -- Eire
She sing of dragons, fairies, lost magic
Tales of love that are very tragic
How alone she is here in a land that has not
the green she speaks of as in her home
I nodd and listen to her words and riddles
as she tucks her to her fiddle
After listening to my thoughts
of how my life was as I was taught
Ashake nods saying she had the answer I sought
She sings:
"The Blue Rose of love can never be won
if glove or gantlet is always worn
Life can not be smoothed or undone
You must risk the pain of flesh agianst thorn."
Books of lore is all I seek
Desperate need for wisdom
In dreams, I ride in song and legend
Trusted friends in words and glyphs
I long to seek the firebird
Ride the griffon's back as I battle coldrakes wielding sword and spell
Ashake's words sing in my ears
"You hear the firebird's call
You seek the colddrakes's hall
A better advice I can not give
than those scrolls upon the shelf
Before you master others
seek first to master yourself!"
Amid the knowledge, I sit
and fear that I dwelled too long!
Dreams of dust, fleeting fame
I tear the papyrus in my hands
My soul cries, "Is there nothing more?!"
The palace is over run, the enemy is here!
Nubiens soldiers clash and run
I get my Queen to safety
What can I do I feel so small?
One by one I gut the torches sending the palace into darkness
for the life of my Queen I stay behind and cover her tracks
Bright blade flashing cuts me quick
I see my blood stain the lotus friezed wall
Vision blurs, I feel the grey lights dancing
The white lotus, the symbol of everlasting life, is the last thing I see
bloody fingers trace the lotus as Ashake's song drifts in my mind
"The blue rose of love can never be won
If glove or gantlet is always worn
Life can not be smoothed or undone
You must risk the pain of flesh agianst thorn."
My ka lifts to heaven
I finally understand
Sekhmet's Fire -- Joira by E Strong
Blazing sword of blue fire
Claws of steel, Sekhmet's desire
Firey Child of Ra
Hathor's sister past all mire
Lovely lioness in golden armor
Amazon raised in pure trust and honor
Tawny goddess of blood and healing
Enshrouded in a cloak of flame
Justice without mercy that rends and maims
Playful killer who splits her enemies
The Powerful One has come!
Love touched by fighter's power
Proves that fate is none more dour
To raise her blooody hand
In defense of Kemet's land
Do not anger this one mild
for she is truly Sekhmet's child!
Eye of the Pharoah -- Ashake by E. Strong
I am She, past the awakening of Time
whose lore and love speak of Truth
I am the Chosen of the Four
I am the dancing feet, music, laughter, and joy of Hathor
I am the wisdom and magic of Isis
My armor bares the blood stains of my enemies folly
I am she who sees beyond the viel
Healing touch or wrath of war
I am the hand of Maat the stays the fury of Sekhmet
on the scales of Justice
Behold I am Rhiannon, the great Welsh Queen, who rides Epona
when the walls of the worlds grow thin
I walk the realm of the Underworld and Otherworld and seer the souls to their rest
Fire walk with me! As the Elements guide us.
Drink deeply of the Waters of Life
How can you fight the Darkness unless you seek it with a heart of Light?
I am the candle in the dark
I cross the boundaries of the Underworld and spirit walk in dreams
Dreamwalker, Shamaness of Celts, Lady of Magic
I am Ashaket, Eye and Hand of the Pharoah!
Dream maker -- Mira
Sly blue eyes peer at last
at dreams long past
Cheerful face, visions pure
Radient goodness as a gentle lotus
Mist and twilight wrought
So holds the dreamer or so you thought!
Wisdom tells me to turn away
from shadows never seen by day
She brings peace that suffering redeems
Release your pain inside your dreams
She sooths when visions mourn
as grief becomes too much born
So fades weariness and woe
What lies in her own heart?
Only Mira knows.
Healer's Hands -- Ashake and Mira
Hands that have worked so after years of care
you can't betray me so you would not dare
To treat a life like a lamp flame
and so cruely put it out
But in a moment,
a shining moment your healer's oath in doubt
Hands without calous
you have not know death like this
You've lead men back from death
but you never dealt its kiss
But for once the pain is lovely
as the foe slumps to the ground
But for a moment, shinging moment
a life lost to my blade
And they'll all be proud come morning
of the killing by these hands
But that moment, that damed moment that no other understands
Of the hated horrid moment that sprayed blood on healer's hand!
(** Wolfrider's Reflection copy 1981 sorry to borrow a great song but I love this song! It fit Mira and Ashake so well)
