Spitfire's attitude towards authority earned her a swift discharge from Galvatron's base on Char, but the trait causes minimal difficulties in her current position. She considers her friends in the Pack and in the Phantom Pirate Fleet with which the Pack is merged are her "family," and it is likely that she would die defending them. The Pack/Phantom cause of overthrowing Galvatron and instituting a viable form of Decepticon government has become a part of her personal philosophy since she joined the renegades. She is a believer in the religion of a Cybertronian sub-tribe known as the Kree, and is a follower of the fire god Cearr. This alliance grants her certain powers, including the ability to withstand cold and heat that would be fatal to most Transformers. She has the added ability of astral projection which enables her to be in two places at once, making her a most effective spy. She has a mystical connection to the element fire, and she is known on occasion to use her pyrokinetic abilities as a weapon. Spitfire is the bassist and founding member of a heavy metal band that she and her small friend Electrofox started years before they joined the Pack. "Rust Blight" is now a highly successful venture in its own right. The current lineup consists of Electrofox on drums, Spitfire on bass, Starshadow on guitar, and (a recent addition), Phantom Fleet commander Starscream on lead vocals. In jet form, Spitfire's missile racks can hold up to eight missiles, either the conventional type or "Blight Shells," which release a corrosive gas when detonated. The gas is capable of destroying the innards of an enemy aircraft's engines within minutes of contact, and is most effective against pursuers. In root mode, her infamous "Trash Cannon" is by far her favorite weapon. Its heavily armored firing chamber can accommodate a range of ammunition limited only by its user's imagination. Possibilities run the gamut from grenades and specialty acid pellets all the way down through mud, rocks, rotten fruit and chewing gum. This versatility makes it just as useful at parties as it is in the heat of battle. Her armaments are augmented by her sinuous,poison-tipped tail. Its sting is potent enough to paralyze most robotic lifeforms for up to three minutes, and since the tail is extremely flexible, it can also be used for such purposes as carrying pieces of delicate equipment, operating precision welding tools, and "goosing" attractive individuals of either gender. Spitfire's greatest weakness lies in the possibility of being forced to fly through the corrosive "Blight Shell" gases after one of her missiles has been detonated. Though protected in her root mode, in jet mode her intakesremain vulnerable. Additionally, her natural impetuousness and short temper can occasionally goad her into situations that are too much for her to handle. |
