Tetris is a member of an entirely new classification of Cybertronians - slaves. At the end of the war, Cybertron was in need of massive reconstruction, while at the same time, the Decepticons - still exiled on the planet Char - found that they were economically destitute. The Autobot/Decepticon Treaty provided what seemed to be the perfect solution to both problems. The Decepticons developed a series of specialized non-transforming workers whom they "exported" to Cybertron in exchange for necessities such as energon. Gradually this trade expanded to include various areas of specialization. For the Decepticons, this arrangement means the difference between extinction and survival. The Autobots, who ostensibly oppose the notion of slavery, generally see their "servants" as fulfilling a debt owed to them by the Decepticons for having (in the minds of many Autobots) caused the war. Tetris is what the Autobot government officially refers to as a "recreational unit." He belongs to a relatively recent series of slaves who are designed for the sole purpose of entertaining their high-ranking Autobot (and sometimes Decepticon) owners. As such, they are frequently subjected to physical and sexual brutality: even in his relatively short life, Tetris has been no exception to this pattern.Because of his designated function, Tetris is very lightly armoured. He carries no weapons, and, like most other slaves, he cannot transform. Nevertheless he is surprisingly strong, fast and very agile - attributes that have served to keep him alive. He is also highly intelligent. Tetris has adopted a guarded attitude towards the world because of the cruelties that have been inflicted on him. Even so, his gentle and inherently spiritual nature are essentially unchanged. He possesses psychic abilities which remain, as yet, largely untapped. And, in spite of the shortness of his existence to date, he is haunted by a nameless sense of mission and purpose, as well as a crushing sense of responsibility. |

The word "Tetris" means "four." Like most slaves, his name is derived from his serial number, which in his case has a numeric value of four. |
