Gargoyles on the north side of Notre Dame
Gargoyles are just fancy stone gutters. Water is channeled through the back and out the mouth (see the hole in the mouth of the one left of center). Supposedly the word 'gargoyle' comes from the sound water makes running out of their mouths.
