Versailles' Hall of Mirrors
Perhaps the size of the mirrors aren't too impressive today, but they were the largest that 17th century technology could make. I couldn't help thinking that 140 years after this palace was built John Adams and Thomas Jefferson walked this hallway in their turns as ambassadors to France, from the new United States.
