Stop-gap Aussie fighter hurriedly developed from the wonderfully named "Wirraway" trainer. This barrel shaped fighter was considered slow even with the Pratt-Whitney R-1830, but maneuverable. Prototype flew May 1942, some service aircraft flew in New Guinea.
