Methos watched the light grow through the trees. Kelly was sleeping deeply, her skin cold. She was so still he was concerned about her. The Blazer was so cold he could see his breath.
He shook her to wake her. "Are you cold?" She looked at him sleepily and nodded.
"I don't know if you'll be able to make it up the mountain. We'll wait a bit and let it get warmer. Then I can get one of Lina's snowmobiles and come back for you and our stuff."
She nodded. He pulled apart from her and dug in his bag until he found another sweater. He pulled it on over her head and put her coat back on her. Pulling her back into his arms, he tucked the blankets around them and settled back into the seat.
Richie paced impatiently waiting for Duncan. Finally he appeared from upstairs and they headed out to the garage. Inside were two snowmobiles Asher used to get to town when she was there. Wordlessly, they started them up and sped off down the road.
Methos was tucking the blankets tightly around Kelly when he heard the whine of vehicles approaching and he looked up. She watched as he looked around before he looked at her and shrugged. A moment later, two snowmobiles appeared around the bend of the road. They slid to a stop on the other side of the tree and the riders got off. Methos moved from behind the door and pulled his sword out of his coat.
"Relax Pierson. It's just us." One of them called.
He put his sword away and picked up Kelly. She clung to him as he carefully climbed up the tree and passed her to Richie.
"Hi." He smiled at her.
"Hi." She whispered quietly.
He helped her over to the snowmobile where she could sit down. "Sit tight, We're going to get your stuff."
She nodded and watched fuzzily as he and Mac got the bags and strapped them to the snowmobiles. Richie got on and looked over his shoulder at her. "Ever ride one of these?"
She shook her head against his back.
"It's just like riding my bike. Hold on tight to me." He started the vehicle up and they sped back to the house.
Asher met them at the door and Richie carried Kelly's limp body inside. He set her down on the couch and began peeling off the layers damp clothing.
Methos burst inside. "Get her into a lukewarm bath." He ordered Richie and Amanda ran upstairs.
"Use my bath!" Asher called up after her.
"Ash, get her something warm to drink." He told Asher.
She nodded. "I've got some cider mulling on the stove. I'll bring some up for you too."
When she was wearing only her long underwear, Methos picked her up and carried her up the stairs. Richie followed closely behind.
Methos turned to him. "Take some of those towels and get Joe to put them in the dryer to warm them."
He nodded and grabbed some towels off the stack before running back downstairs.
Amanda met him at the door of the bathroom. "Tell me what to do and I'll do it."
"I should-" He began.
"She doesn't know you. Now tell me what to do."
He brought her over to the bathtub and let Amanda take her. "Just keep her in the water until she's alert and has had at least two cups of something warm to drink." He closed the door behind him and Amanda undressed Kelly and got her into the water.
She was gently pouring water over her hair, melting away the ice crystals, when there was a knock on the door.
"It's Asher." The voice on the other side called.
"Come in."
Asher slowly opened the door and brought in a tray with a teapot and some mugs. "It's the cider. I thought you might want some too."
"Thanks." She lightly hit Kelly's face. "Kelly, wake up. Kelly?"
Kelly's blue-green eyes fluttered open. She focused on Amanda for a moment. "Where am I?"
"At my place. Do you remember Richie and Mac finding you earlier?" Asher handed Amanda a mug of cider.
Kelly nodded. "Yeah. It hurts."
"Does it tingle or feel sore?" Asher asked.
"Both." She let Amanda help her drink, her arms heavy in the water.
"The tingle is just your skin getting back to normal temperature and the soreness is probably from the crash." There was a knock at the door and Asher got up to answer it. Joe was on the other side with the towels and Richie was sitting on the floor across from the door.
"How is she?" Joe asked.
"Getting better. We'll be out in a little bit. Can you watch the turkey for me?"
"Sure."
She shut the door and set the towels down on the counter. "I'm going to get you some warm clothes."
"What's your real name?" Kelly asked softly.
Asher looked at her in surprise. "What?"
"Angelina, that's not your real name, is it?"
She shook her head. "Asher, its Asher."
Kelly nodded, smiling weakly. "Thank you."
"I'll be right back." She told her and left the bathroom.
Amanda gave her another sip of cider and Kelly reached up and took the mug from her. "How are you feeling?"
"Warmer. When can I get out? I'm feeling a little waterlogged."
Amanda laughed. "As soon as you drink another mug of cider and Ash gets back with some clothes for you."
"So get me some more cider so I can get out of here before I turn into a prune."
Asher pulled a part of flannel pajama pants, a soft gray T-shirt, a baggy sweatshirt and some underwear and socks. When she turned around, Methos was standing in the doorway.
"Hey."
"Hey yourself." She looked at her feet.
He walked to her and touched her face. "Ash-"
"I was so worried last night." She leaned into him.
He put his arms around her. "I know, love. I'm sorry."
The stood that way for a moment before Asher pulled away.
"I need to get these clothes to Kelly."
He nodded and bent his head, touching his lips to hers. The kiss grew passionate before Methos let her go. She leaned her head against his chest for a moment before she went back through her room to the bathroom. Richie looked up at her when she opened the door. "She'll be out soon." She told him.
A little while later, the bathroom door opened and Kelly emerged, leaning heavily against Amanda. Richie jumped up and scooped Kelly up. He carried her downstairs and settled her on the couch, piling blankets on her.
"Feel better?" He asked.
She smiled and nodded. "Warmer."
"Good."
Methos wandered out into the living room. He had changed into a pair of gray sweatpants and an oversized sweater. "You're more alert." He commented. "Good. Feel warmer now?"
"Yeah. Just sleepy."
"Understandable. Eat something. Then you can sleep all you want."
"Here's breakfast." Asher swept out of the kitchen with a huge tray. She set it on the coffee table. "Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?"
"Coffee." Kelly answered immediately.
Richie nodded in agreement. "Sounds good."
"Rather have a beer." Methos muttered.
Asher punched him in the shoulder. "Little early isn't it?"
"Is it every too early for beer?" She gave him a look and went back into the kitchen.
When breakfast was over, everyone went about helping Asher prepare Christmas dinner. Kelly snuggled down under the blankets and drifted off to sleep.
It was late in the afternoon when Kelly woke up. She yawned and stretched, sitting up.
"Afternoon, sleeping beauty."
She turned. Richie was standing by the stairs. He walked over and sat on the couch next to her.
"Hey."
"Feel better?"
She nodded and leaned closer to him. He put his arm around her, pulling her into the crook of his arm.
"Sorry about this." Richie said softly.
"Hey, unless you made the tree fall into the road, there's nothing to apologize for."
He kissed the top of her head. "But you're alive. And you're not alone on Christmas."
She shrugged. "Yeah. I still hate Christmas."
Richie laughed. "Merry Christmas, Kel."
"Merry Christmas, Richie."
