Sam James' Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fanfic

I've been a fan of many a science fiction and fantasy series (book, tv, and movie). Yet I never felt compelled to write my own fanfic until I became a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I am not alone. Even a cursory search of the net will probably find more Buffy fanfic than any other show with the understandable exception of Star Trek which had a 20 year head start.

Ironically most of my fiction doesn't star Buffy herself but Willow Rosenberg, her best friend. I find her character more interesting than the fight first, ask questions never Buffy. I have a sequence of stories leading up to an imaginary separate series I call Willow, Watcher In Training & Computer Hacker (W.I.T.C.H.) as well as several independent stories. There are stories of an evil Willow too. I have a whole a series of stories exploring Willow's Jewish identity that I call Willow's Happy Holidays. And I just finished a mini-epic about the Trial of Willow after the Season 6 finale. Now, I've started doing crossovers with Smallville and Joan of Arcadia.

Prologue to the Watcher In Training Series Sequence

Deceptive Decisions - In making her decision about life after high school Willow learns more about decisions made by Watcher Giles. This is a prequel to the Willow, Watcher In Training & Computer Hacker (W.I.T.C.H.) series. Season 3

Valedictorian - Willow is valedictorian but the mayor has plans of his own. This is my substitute for the graduation episodes (mostly written during the long delay between WB's showing of the first and second parts.) It too leads into Willow, Watcher In Training & Computer Hacker (W.I.T.C.H.) series. Season 3

Willow, Watcher In Training & Computer Hacker (W.I.T.C.H.) series- I've given these stories a separate page but put links on this page too.

The Bad Willow Stories

Stories where Willow is not quite as innocent, in-character, or in full possession of her mind. Note, I started writing these way before Season Six.

A Perfectly Willowy Revenge - Willow gets revenge - her way. Season 3

Stalker Willow - After Oz leaves, Willow does everything she can to get him back. Season 4

The Trial of Willow Rosenberg. - After the events of Season 6, Willow goes on trial for murder. Post-Season 6

Black Is Her Heart, Dark My Soul New! - After the S6 finale, Giles must deal with a Willow who never stopped being black eyed, black haired, evil Willow. Post-Season 6

Willow's Happy Holidays

Happy Hanukkah, Willow - Something strange happens to Buffy while Willow and Xander retell the story of Hanukkah. Season 4

Happy Passover, Willow - On Passover, Willow, Buffy and the slayerettes revisit the faux Hell from Anne to tell the demons to "Let my people go!" Now finished! Season 4

Happy Purim, Willow - A villain from Jewish history takes over the Initiative. Season 4

Unhappy Ninth - Willow and the Scoobies confront a monster on the worst day in the calendar for Jews. Summer After S4

The New Year of Trees - Willow and Tara have an adventure while attending a logging protest on Tu B'Shevat. Season 5.

Forgiving Willow - Willow seeks forgiveness. A very short story for the Jewish high holidays. Season 7.

I am Isaac, I am the Ram: Willow's Meditations on the Rosh Hashanah Torah Reading New! - Willow finds the the Torah reading for the second day of Rosh Hashanah hits home in a very personal way. A very short story for the second day of Rosh Hashanah. Season 4

Crossovers

A crossover is where characters from one universe (comics/tv/movies/book) interact with those of another. They fall into two types - one in which characters from one universe cross the boundaries (Narnia style) into another universe and one where characters from two different sources are shown to be living in the same universe, just never interacting before this story. Common crossovers include Buffy and Highlander, Buffy and Harry Potter, and Highlander and X-Files. Naturally, my big crossovers are different.

Smaller Than Sunny Updated! (unfinished) - Crossover between Buffy and Smallville - After Buffy's death Dawn, Willow, and Spike wind up in Smallville where they quickly find out that there's more to the town than it seems. Post S7 (Buffy) and alt S2 (Smallville)

Arcadian Buffy New! (unfinished) - Crossover between Buffy and the new CBS show Joan of Arcadia. Looking for a new life and new place to live, Buffy, Dawn, and Willow move to the town of Arcadia and wind up next door to the local police chief's family, including a daughter who talks with God. Post S7 (Buffy) and alt S1 (Joan).
