First ever Dune 2 - the building of an dynasty is the first real-time strategy game ever. It is a quite simple game compared to newer ones (e.g. Command & Conquer, Age of Empires) but when it came it must have been an creator of an new era. No one had really seen a real-time strategy game before Dune 2, and when it came most of the people that I now where amazed over the way you now could create armies and win battles. I also believe that the superior story in Dune 2 made a very good impression on the players. In Dune 2 you are playing the role of an member of one of three houses: -Athreides -Harkonnen -Ordos Each of the houses have their own special troops and weapons. All houses serves the emperor but they also fight among them selves in order to get in control over Arrakis (Dune). The House Mentat will give you missions and advises. Your missions will be harder and harder to fulfill, and in the ending it will be you who leads the House-army. During the game you will get access to more and more advanced weaponry. In order to create your armies you must have a stabile spiceproduction, and that is not an easy task. You must watch out for worms and enemies every second. And when you thought it was safe... think again. Not to forget, Dune 2 was the Strategy Game of the Year 1993 (The gaming world). Inspired by SF-Books The creators of Dune: The Building of Dynasty was inspired by the sci-fi-books written by Frank Herbert. This "action in real-time" game takes you to a world beyond far away. A world there you could talk forever, but world there you have to use military force in order to get anything done. If you haven't seen the game: check out my screenshots. |
