It is 50 years after the original start in Escape Velocity. 25 years ago, new hyperspace flux points were discovered around system THX-1138. At the end of those flux points were aliens. For once, the Confederation and the Rebellion banded together and found the alien homeworld. Using biological weapons, the alien world was destroyed. Confederation and Rebellion fell back to warring.

Around that time, a new player in the technologies industry, Elphan Incorperated bought all the systems that had been discovered and sealed off the flux point leading to their space. The code to enter is known only to a few traders that have proven their loyalty and Confederation and Rebel forces. Some pirates have stolen access as well.

Elphan has created several new ships, among which are the Leftan Heavy Fighter and the G'l'roc Medium Freighter. It is also rumored that they are creating a new ship to be in direct competition with the Maskirovka IPV-I Corvette and the Atinoda Kestrel. Will they rush it to mass production, or will they fail, only you can decide.
