History: Not much is known about the mercenary who calls himself Paladin. He's notoriously known throughout the world, specifically to the wealthy and those in the underground, as not only a very costly superhero-for-hire, but as a very good one at that. He's often shown his ego and womanizing "skills" off no matter the situation, and will most likely take any job if the price is right. However, he's been known to make exceptions, due to his sometimes unexpected sense of honor. For a time, he was even involved in a relationship with the Avenger called Wasp, but that eventually disappeared.

He came into contact with Generation X when he was hired by Adrienne Frost to find the sword that killed her husband. Wounded from battle with a group called the Rising Sons, Paladin escaped and collapsed once he arrived at the Academy, where he was found by Jubilee. The team soon went off to Madripoor to assist Paladin in what they thought was a noble cause, but it turned out that, unbeknownst to them, Adrienne wanted that sword for a little more than sentimental value, as she keeps it a guarded secret that she was the one who drove it through her husband.

Paladin has since gone off on his own again, but will no doubt pop up somewhere, working on yet another high-paying mission.
