The Shinseiki Evangelion Movie Petition

After looking around the Internet, I became frustrated with the lack of information regarding the English release of the Evangelion films. So I decided to do something about it.

Apparently, Manga Entertainment finally acquired rights to the Evangelion movies. We shall have to see how this pans out. Thanks to all of those ppl who signed my Petition.

The aim of this page is to bring attention to the release (or lack thereof) of the Neon Genesis Evangelion movies, Death & Rebirth (the link is to a Vivo trailer), End of Evangelion (AIR/ Magokoro Kimi Ni), and hopefully the recently released Death: True. A. D. Vision has told me they have no plans to release the films. I hope this petition will bring another company to acquire the rights for them. As soon as I receive confirmation that the movies will be released, I will notify everyone that signed the petition.

All you have to do to sign the EVA Petition is Email me with your name and email address. You may include a comment if you wish. Put "Eva Petition" in the subject line. That's it. But if you would, please spread the news or link to me.

Hopefully this will help us achieve our goal. Look back occasionally on this page for the total number of signatures. Let me know if any prominent information turns up. It makes me feel better knowing I'm at least doing something, rather than just waiting to see what happens. Don't you agree ^_^?

One more note: AD Vision screwed up their information regarding Genesis :13. They wrote: ( Keep in mind this is open to interpretation. Using the info that ADV is privy to before its viewers, Third Impact happens in EoE in a similar manner as some events described in episodes 25 and 26 )

but the Third Impact _NEVER_ occurs in the ORIGINAL television series. You'd think they would have their information straight. However, maybe they are talking about GAINAX's remastered television episodes. Could this be true? If it is, they may be lying to the fans...

I have lost my respect for AD Vision's subtitles. The translation for Eva episode 24 ("The Final Death" or "The Final Messenger" or phonetically, "The Final Seashore") throws the series meaning out on it's ear. I am very glad to have seen these episodes before it was mangled with the horrible subbing. And I have heard the dub-- it is correct-- more so than the subbed version. Read the following-- I hope that the true Eva fans can see what this does. THIS INFO APPLIES TO THE SUBTITLED VERSION OF GENESIS 12 THAT I HAVE WATCHED. I encourage anyone who feels as I do about this to email [email protected]and let them know (POLITELY!!)about the most important error: LILIM!! Read on:

Longinus no Yari. (The Spear of Longinus)

ADV decides to sub it Longeness, regardless of their previous spellings.

Kaworu calls us "Lilims"

ADV decides to spoonfeed it to us. "Humanity". This changes the episode meaning.

The Final Messenger, The Final Death, The Final Seashore (3 meanings, one is meaningful only with the others)

ADV goes with the episode title as "The Last Angel".

Rei's lines were changed. Her exact lines were
Rei: Why am I here?
Why am I still alive?
For what?
For whom?
The Fifth children.
He looks something like me.
Why?

ADV changes it to something like "Does he resemble me?" or something like that. Anyone who has seen the new one and remembers can point this out.

SEELE says during the conversation with Gendo:
Gendou: An Angel is approaching right now.
We will finish this discussion at the next opportunity.
Seele: If your chair remains.

ADV decides to change it by saying "Your chair will remain".

Also the number of constructed ( and being constructed) units was wrong.

Right before Kaworu descends the Terminal Dogma, he says, "Come, Adam's alter ego and the Servant of the Lilims." The term "Lilim" allows the viewer to understand that we (humanity) do indeed come from Lilith. Without this, the 17th's words could be interpreted as many different things, (What about humanity?) while "Lilim" is a solid definition. It's just that "humanity" merely means our race, and most viewers won't interpret that meaning that we come from Lilith and instead something else. (Like we created it, etc.)

ADV changes it to "Come Adam's alter ego and the servant of Lilith". The shock about Lilith only happens as he is standing before her when he says it.

Kaworu (Spelled "Kaoru" regardless of the way it is written on the panel during the Sync tests) says "You, Lilims [Kimitachi Lilims] call it so" referring to the AT field.

ADV decides to wreck his reference to us again by using "Humans". The Same right before Lilith when he says "I see, I understand, Lilim".

The picture begins to MOVE when there is a break in the subtitles!! It is REALLY noticable during episode 24. I have viewed THREE tapes of the subtitled version, only to find it in all of them.

I emailed Brad Atwell at [email protected] but he does not reply. GREAT consumer feedback and support.

There are many more mistakes. This is an incredible series, and they should not have hurried the subtitled version. I am very angered by this. I buy subbed because I dislike terrible voice acting, only to find this many mistakes plus more. Read the script as you watch it.
