MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE:
The day starts off normal for the Voyager crew, until Seven of Nine summons Janeway and Chakotay to the Astrometrics Lab. Voyager has picked up a Federation starship in the Alpha Quadrant. Seven has established a sensor link with an alien array, and now can detect signals from the Alpha Quadrant.
Voyager makes some modifications to its communications relay, to no avail. Whenever a message is sent off, it is deflected right back. Any message that could be sent by Voyager would not be strong enough to reach the starship. The only kind of message that could reach it is a holographic message, meaning only one thing; the Doctor is their only hope. With mere seconds left before the ship leaves sensor range, the Doctor is transported to the ship, and the crew prays he made it in time.
The Doctor finds himself on the Starship Prometheus, an experimental starship made for deep space combat. The Prometheus is equipped with new features, such as regenerative shielding, ablative hull armor, and multi-vector assault mode. Afetr failed attempts at communication with the crew, he makes a startling discovery; the Prometheus has been hijacked by Romulans.
Meanwhile, back on Voyager, Paris is assigned to medical duty, and seeks the help of his friend, Harry Kim, to help him create a new holographic doctor just in case the old one never comes back. This fails because of an overload of information, and they abandon the project.
While Seven and B'Elaana settle their differences, an alien race named the Hirogen claims ownership of the array, and demands that Voyager terminates their link, and when Voyager refuses, the Hirogen take it upon themselves to terminate it themselves. When diplomacy fails to work with the Hirogen representative, Seven gives him a "mild shock", and the link is reestablished.
Back on the Prometheus, the ship is engaged by a single Starfleet ship, believing it has been commandeered by Romulans. The Romulans execute the multi-vector assault mode (where the ship seperates into three different ships) and destroy the ship, and resume course for Romulan space. An injured Romulan is brought to sickbay, and the Doctor plays the role of the ship's EMH. Activating the ship's EMH, he finds that there is a new holographic doctor, the Mark-2, only six weeks old. Together, they hatch a plan to retake the ship.
The Doctor is captured by the Romulans while trying to release the environmental controls to fill the ship with neurosine (sp?) gas, knocking out all of the Romulans. They interrogate him, finding nothing of use, and just about as they are to dissect him, the neurosine gas floods the ship. The Doctors have conquered the ship.
Their first task is to stop the ship from entering Romulan space. They overload the engines right before they hit the border, but it is too late. 3 Romulan Warbirds are on an intercept course. They learn that the Prometheus is no longer in Romulan hands, and attack it. Soon enough, Starfleet arrives, and they still think that the ship is under Romulan control, so they attack both the Warbirds and the Prometheus. The Mark-2 accidentally activates the multi-vector assault mode, and it is easy from then on to destroy the Warbird. Security officers beam aboard the Prometheus, and the Doctor is relieved to see a Starfleet face.
The Doctor relays the message to Starfleet, and they plan to launch a rescue mission for the Voyager.
