This poem does not really contain any spoilers for L.J. Smith books, but it does have one for a L.J. Smith fan fic of mine. The story is "Obsidian Love" and it is up on the L.J. Smith Inspired Stories Page if you want to read it.

Song of a Soulmate

I was dark until we met.
Now I see the light.
I was blinded by my hate,
But you taught me love.
It's strange how much I've changed.

Ebony by name,
Ebony by nature.
I was as dark as that wood,
Black as jet, obsidian or onyx.
But your Sapphire light saved me.

I was so blind I could not see.
I was afraid to just be me.
Wrapped in my hate, I played the fool,
Far too afraid to break a rule.
You showed me the way.

Day by day I'm learning,
Learning to love you more.
Day by day I am growing,
I am growing more and more sure.
Sure of the love I am feeling,
Sure of my feelings for you.
Knowing the soul we're sharing,
Is making you love me too.

Sapphira your light has broken
Into this Vampire's heart.
Don't ever let that darkness,
Tear our souls apart.
Soulmates are soulmates forever,
We should be forever too.
Together through eternity
Just me and you.
