The Silver Surfer's board is a construct of unknown materials created by the vast cosmic energies
of Galactus. The board is coated with the same silvery glaze that coats the Surfer's body, making
it impervious to virtually all forms of physical damage. Few forces short of the cosmic power of
Galactus could affect the board at all. The board is psionically linked in an unkown way to the
Surfer's mind and responds to his mental comands. He can vary it's size and shape at will, but
usually keeps it at approximately 7 ft. long & 2.5 ft. wide.
Occasionally, the board extends a fin, which acts as a gavimeteric stabilizer. It is capapble of
carrying out complex maneuvers on the Surfer's behest with the speed of thought.
Apparently the board taps into ambient cosmic energy in much the same way the Surfer does.
Although the Surfer can utilize his cosmic power to fly without it, the board enables him to fly
without the expenditure of any of his own energy. The Silver Surfer can use the board to attain
.999 the speed of light. Accelerating any faster than this, he enters warp-space, a realm where
the speed of light is not a limiting factor on velocity. When flying in an atmosphere, the Surfer
rarely excedes mach 10 (ten times the speed of sound, the speed of sound is 770 miles per hour).
