Summary:It's Valentines Day with our two sweethearts.
DISCLAIMER:Since this is such a nice holiday, I won't complain that
these characters aren't mine, I'll simply say that they belong to CC, FOX,
and 1013. Happy Valentines Day, guyz!
Be Mine, Valentine
Dana woke up depressed. Today was Valentines Day, and she
really
didn't want to deal with it. For three years, she hadn't had a valentine,
and this year would be the same. The same heartbreak of seeing happy
couples going out to dinner, and looking as if they were on cloud nine. It
just wasn't fair. Well, she was a strong woman, and would live. She
supposed.
She was surprised to walk into the office to find no Mulder. "Huh." She
thought out loud. She noticed that out of no where, a desk was in *her*
corner of the room. Not only that but also a name plate that said Dana
Scully. She smiled to herself, thinking of the spat they had, and this as a
gesture of forgiveness, and an apology. It seemed Mulder had gone all
out. There was a high quality computer chair, and a computer already
set up and going. To complete the display, there was a single red rose,
and a message typed on her computer screen.
It read < Dana, I'm sorry I never got you a desk until now. You
have the right to a life outside of work just as much as I do. I'm sorry for
acting like an ass, and being insensetive about your whole ordeal.
Please accept these as an apology. I'm also sorry that I said you were
only *assinged* to the X-Files. It took me a while to understand that this
is your life too, and you've invested as much of yourself in the X-Files
as I have, if not more. I know you're thinking to yourself that this doesn't
sound like me, and even *I* don't think it sounds like me. All I can say is
we've been through too much to give up on each other now. I know at
times we can frustrate each other, and push each other to the limit. But
you're the best partner, and best friend that I've ever had. I'm not there
saying this to your face, because of two reasons. One, I probably
couldn't do it, and two, I'm at home cooking, yes cooking, us a Valentines
dinner. If you will, I'd really like for you to come over tonight, and b
my Valentine. I't been a couple years since either of us has had a
Valentine, and I think it would be nice if this year we did.
Mulder>
She couldn't believe it. Raising her hands to her face, she rubbed
her temples making sure she wasn't dreaming. Mulder said this?
Mulder wrote this? He never ceased to amaze her. And what was this
about cooking? Mulder cooked? Whew! this was too much to take in at
once. Just when she thought she'd have herself transfered, he goes
and does something like this ands puts a transfer as the last thing on her
mind.
She looked down to find another surprise. There were two
notes.
One sealed with a heart, and the other sealed with a cupid. Dizziness
swam over her, and she sat down. She opened the letter sealed with a
heart first. It read < Dear Dana, Mulder told me he was going to ask you
to be his Valentine, but if he does anything to hurt you, I'll always be
here. Though of course, I can't tell you exactly where, because it's
classified. I will always think you're hot, Love Frohike> She laughed to
herself, as a tear ran down her cheek. He could be paranoid, but he
also could be very sweet.
She opened the letter sealed with a cupid. It read < Dear Agent
Scully, I wanted to wish you a Happy Valentines day. You always
make the lab bright with your presense. I guess you know by now that I
have somewhat of a crush on you, and want to know if maybe you'd
like to go to dinner sometime. Anyway, Happy Valentines, Mark
Pendrell> This time, she laughed until she had tears in her eyes. Poor
Mark. She knew he was hopelessly head over heels for her, and had a
hard time saying it. She liked him, but she just didn't think they were right
for each other.
At around eight-o-clock, she showed up at Mulder's door. After
he took her coat, he lead her into his kitchen, and seated her at a table
made up for two. "Mulder, I want to thank you for everything.
"
"You deserve it, Dana. After all that I did, and in some cases
didn't do, I knew I had to do something big to make up for it all." She
smiled, and just looked at him for a while. He looked back, and after
sometime, became uneasy, and decided to say something. "I, uh, hope
you like what I made. It's pizzia in a heart shaped pan. I know it's
nothing flashy, but I'm not a great cook."
"I'm sure it'll be great, Mulder."
He blew out a breath, silently relieved. "I do, however, have
white wine."
She smiled again. "Now this is more like it."
A pause passed over them, and it wasn't comfortable. Something
needed to be discussed, and Mulder knew he had to be the first to say
it. "Dana, there's something I want to tell you. I know I can be
controlling, and sometimes, if not always, act as if I'm your supirior. I'm
sorry, really I am. It's just that when Sam was taken,
I had absolutely no control over it happening. I felt powerless. I hated
not being able to do anything. Ever since then, I wanted to take control
of everything and everyone, I guess. I continuosly hurt people that I
didn't mean to hurt. I haven't had very good luck with relationships
because of this. Our relationship has lasted for four years, and this
amazed me. That I didn't push you away like everyone else. You were
stronger than anyone I had ever met, and you could stand a lot more
of.... just me. From now on, I'll try to be fair, and not control you. Am I
forgiven?"
He looked up to see her crying. "Dana?" Pain was evident in his
voice. Had he hurt her again?
"Oh, Mulder. Yes, your forgiven." She said with a laugh. "That's
all I needed to hear." She smiled.
He smiled, and took her hands in his. For a good part of the
evening, they just looked in each other's eyes. To mark the moment,
Mulder made it official by asking, "Dana Katherine Scully, will you be my
Valentine?"
"Fox William Mulder, yes I will."
He raised their entwined hands off the table, and kissed them.
This Valentines Day was the best she could have hoped for, and now,
every year when February 14th rolled around, she'd always have a
Valentine.
The End
Okay, how did everyone like this? I just had to resolve the Never
Again spat in my own way without mentioning Scully's cancer, because
this is a beautiful holiday, and I didn't want to make it a sad one.
Anyway, Happy Valentines! Send anything you like to dkscully@juno.
