Key the Metal Idol
is probably my favorite anime (that and Video Girl Ai
=^.^=). This story is about a young
girl.... if you can call her a girl. Tokiko, or "Key"
to her friends, has always believed that she was a robot made
by her grandfather, Dr. Mima. Key's life was alright in the small
town she lived in, until her grandfather died. In a recorded
message he left her, he told Key that she could become a flesh
and blood human IF she could get 30,000 friends who would care
for her. In order to fulfill her deepest desire, she travels
to Tokyo to somehow become a famous star, or perhaps an Idol
Singer. While in Tokyo, she bumps into her best friend who moved
to Tokyo, Sakura. Sakura rescues her from some of the danger
Key ran into (mainly a pornographic photograhper, once she saw
Key, she knew who it was and got her out). She later promised
to help Key with her mission. Sakura became her producer so Key
could become an Idol Singer, like their idol, Miho. But not everything
goes to plan when Dr. Mima's old boss and the owner of the corporation
responsible for Miho, Ajo, wants the powers Key holds within
herself.
This story is very well
thought out, and has Superb animation. The character design is
very good. This story is extremely enjoyable and keeps you on
the edge of your seat for throughout the whole series. (In suspence...
well at least for me!)
"Key the Metal Idol"
is an 8 tape OAV (Original Animated Video). It contains violence, mild language, some adult content, and breif nudity. I would recommend this series to anyone
16 and over.
