The Original Star Wars Trilogy (parts IV, V, VI) What's the fuss about? |
Now Playing: The Star Wars Theme |
You have to have had your head buried in sand for years, or are about 6 to have not heard of The Star Wars Trilogy. If so - Why? You don't know the power of the force! Star Wars is not just a little kid's story, although it inspires a sense of wonder in all those fortunate to have seen it. As a child, my father used to show me Star Wars occasionally and, I could not help falling in love with the story - but Star Wars was forgotten in my mind until I heard of news of The Special Edition. On learning of this, I found copies of the originals and watched avidly, loving every second of it. Then came the day, I was finally going to see these films on the big screen, as intended. I sat down in my seat, the lights dimmed and the drum roll echoed in the dark. The magic words scrolled up the screen as the fanfare began. I sat, barely breathing for the 2 hours or so it played for. Then, I knew my life had changed. It was so much different to the teeny weenie Luke I had seen; It was massive, powerful, fast. I feel sorry for those who have never seen it on the big screen. Twenty two years old and it has not paled, it still had the power to knock me (even though I'm a child of the graphic era, as seen in Independence Day) senseless, flat on my back. It is timeless, the story as relevant to today as twenty-two years ago. It's not just for Sci-fi fans, it's for all the dreamers, all the believers, everyone. |
