Captain America #11 - People that believe in the so called "American Dream" are falling into the grip of a terrible being called Nightmare. And with each person that falls, he gains more power, to the point where if anyone ever dreamed about a better life, more money, etc., they start falling under his power. Can Captain America and Sharon Carter stop the lord of Nightmares? I guess we'll find out later. I really enjoy this storyline and look forward to each issue.
DC 1,000,000 #3 - This story just keeps on getting better and better. The only thing I don't like about it is all the related tie ins. Along with all the regular books I pick up, there's about half a dozen more this month that I pick up just for the conclusion to stories. Basically in this issue, the Atom finds a cure for the Hourman Virus, but has no real way of administering it, at the same time, the JLA and the Justice Legion A create their own version of a cure, in the form of the evil solar computer Solaris. A traitor stands revealed and manages to redeem himself. It also turns out that Tempest isn't dead and we may be seeing a partial line-up of the new Titans revamp: Arsenal, Tempest, Supergirl, and Jesse Quick. Of any of the major company crossovers in the past couple years, this series stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Martian Manhunter #1,000,000 - We find out where J'onn J'onnz spends the next 83,000 years, basically saving humanity over and over. He is the being to finally destroy Darkseid, he stops a race of intergalactic destroyers from ravaging the solar system, etc. He also says that he owes everything to Kyle, that without GL's help, he wouldn't be around to save Earth. Not a bad issue, but the weakest of the Martian Manhunter issues this year.
Resurrection Man #1,000,000 - I never did follow this book before, but I may start (yeah, like I can afford that). I LOVE the premise of the character, he dies, then comes back with a new super-power, but by the 853rd century, he actually can control what his power will be each time. In this issue he faces the final conflict with another immortal, Vandal Savage. This issue also features the Teen Titans of the 853rd century, Nightwing, Troy, Arsenal and Tempest, and they're all pretty darn cool. A really good book, and a great tie in to the overall story.
Supergirl #1,000,000 - What a weird issue this one was. Basically it's the story of a being trying to outrace a planet destroyer who calls herself Supergirl. She acts like a cross between Delirium of the Endless and Elmira from Tiny Toons, but is basically invulnerable and has incredible strength. You'd really just have to read it to believe it. I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but it was just really weird.
Thunderbolts #20 - The Thunderbolts nearly triumph over the Masters of Evil, but when Moonstone tries to rally them, they lose momentum and are nearly defeated. They are saved by a mysterious man who calls himself Dreadknight. He's apparently someone in the same boat as the T-bolts, villain by trade, but wanting to make up for past crimes and become a hero. However, something doesn't sit right with Jolt about the whole thing and she turns out to be right. Just wait till you see who it really is... The book has been picking up steam for the last few issues and really hit a good note with me this time around. All around good.
Okay, I've already broken my new rule about the page, and the old one as well. I did the reviews the day the books came out, AND I was working today too! Also, I didn't review one book I bought: Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1. Okay before you jump on me, let me explain. Melissa (my girlfriend for those of you who haven't bothered exploring the whole page) gets on my case about comics all the time, yet she watches Buffy with an almost religious devotion. I saw the book and had to get it for her. I hope she sees my point *grin*
