Ultra Home Page!
(for the overly mothered)
Welcome to my Home Page! In here I hope you will find the answers to many of life's little (and not so little) questions. Please note that this is NOT a page for the serious student or the unflinching professional, but rather for those who are after a little light relief from the day to day struggle of work, relationships and family. This includes all those poor souls, like me, who have recently become parents. ( I always thought that baby's came with an Owners Manual, but I think I was lied to…)

Quality Control/ Quality Assurance/ Customer Complaints/ OH&S Co-ordinator/ First Aid Officer/ and all round good guy (including computer fixer upper)
Originally I was hired by Sara Lee (in Victoria, Australia) to oversee and implement the QA/QC plan for one of their factories. Over time, however, I seemed to accrue several other jobs (whether I wanted them or not) but unfortunately, no increase in PAY happened. Sometimes I am just too softhearted for my own good…
Full time mother and Bottle washer..
As you mayhave guessed, our baby arrived, ten days late mind you. I think she liked being inside so much that she did not want to leave, however an eviction notice was served and she finally moved out… Thank God! Now all the pain and agony are on the outside not the inside. She is blissfully sleeping as I write this. She has just had her second immunisation needle (4 months of age) and seems to be handling it better than last time. I must admit the since she learned to go to sleep BEFORE midnight and not wake until AFTER 8 am I seem to be coping with mother hood much better. Breastfeeding is probably the best move we made, no worrying about sterilising bottles or heating feeds, just whip up your top and on she goes. Mind you, now that she is starting to teeth it is getting a little dangerous. I am NOT a teething ring, you know!
At least I don't have to watch anymore B grade late night movies on TV. Cable isn't in our area unless you want a sattelite dish. Funny but the cable for pay TV runs right past our house, but the area between us and Melbourne hasn't been connected yet so we can't get Foxtel etc. for another 2 or 3 years, and that is what they said two years ago! Maybe their clocks run backwards or something…
For the first three months of our daughters life, I think I used the computer twice, both times to whip up a letter I think. I didn't play any games, or read many books except those interesting ones on child care that all tell you different things. Maybe I should write a book, it couldn't be any more confusing than some I have read!
I did manage to bake some Christmas cakes this year.. Boiled fruit cakes take 15 minutes to set up, an hour and a half to cook and then forget about them, you don't have to worry about them going stale, at least not the ones I make. There is that much alcohol in the (sherry or brandy) that not even mould would grow, not that my cakes hang around that long, they were all eaten (all 6 of them) by the end of the first week in January.
I think I spent nearly all my time for the first few weeks camped out in our bedroom. Rebecca (alias the boo girl) slept in a cradle next to our bed, great for those 3am feeds, I reckon you can do it without waking up fully. I spent most of the day watching TV, and playing with Boo girl. Admittedly, she was feeding every three hours and the non-stop nappy changes were fun, but we would get out of the house at least twice a week, to shop or go to the Health centre for weighing etc. Then between Christmas and New Year we moved her into her own room, next to ours, and into a proper cot. She was jiggling around so much that I thought the cradle would fly apart!. I think she likes it in her own room, she isn't lulled to sleep by Daddys snoreing in the same room anymore, but you can still hear him down the other end of the house.
Key responsibilities
You name it, I did it. Need some wash rags ordered? ..let me know. Someone just had an accident?.. let me get the first aid kit. Want a new flavour of ice cream trialed? … I can do it next Thursday ..Get the picture?
Just keeping Boogirl clean, dry and fed is enough of a challenge for me at the moment thank you!
I am currently trying to find some worthy of placement on my page… any ideas??

Since I am currently on maternity leave, I am spending my days lounging around the house, getting out of bed at 8am, having a late breakfast, feeding and playing with the baby…. Life is just so HARD!
Baby Making
Have mixed all ingredients and am waiting for the buzzer to ring. Hopefully, it will be cooked in the next day or so. Otherwise sanity may be lost. It is amazing the number of people who ring and say "Have you had the baby yet??" Particularly when they are close relatives who will be called withins minutes of it arriving anyway. I am thinking of changing our answering machine message to" NO I have NOT had the baby yet. If you do not have a baby related question leave your name and number after the beep."
Baby Raising
Now all the calls I get are "Hows Rebecca??" (Ok but the house just burnt down) "That's nice dear.."
Cleaning House
A lost cause..
Keeping Sane
Another lost cause…
I am an extremely old 32 years (and with this monster inside I feel about 232 years old) who would give almost anything for one nights sleep of at least 8 hours which did not involve heartburn, pain in the pelvis or hips, no kicking from baby and silence.
Thankfully I have an understanding husband who thinks I am just fantastic… or at least that is what he says to my face!
I am short, rather fat and can talk loudly, often without realizing I am doing it. I haven't had anything alcoholic to drink since January (booze and babys don't mix you see) and would consider selling my left kidney for a cup of freshly percolated coffee, but again caffeine and babies do not mix. I just wish someone had told me about all of this BEFORE I got pregnant…
Now that I have had Rebecca, I STILL CAN'T HAVE COFFEE!!!!!! It seems to stir her up and then I can't get her to sleep at night. I can't even have a coke or anything with too much caffeine in it. Small amounts of tea and chocolate are all I can handle. And because I am breast feeding, I can't have booze either. What was that song called?? What I did for love???…
I must admit though, I didn't put on one kilo while pregnant, and have thus lost almost 14 kilos just by having a baby, not that I'd recommend pregnancy as a diet method mind you, but it does bear thinking about! So far I haven't put any back on either, so maybe there is hope for me yet! Maybe when we have number two, I can lose another 14 kilos and then another 14 kilos….
We have two dogs who are so smart they put most people to shame. Murphy (female, blue heeler/kelpie) is my bodyguard. Heaven help any idiot who tried to break in here. She'd have you leg off before you'd get halfway though the window. Bentleigh (male, Shih Tzu/maltese) would jump up and lick you to death, particularly if you are carrying chocolate at the time. He will eat anything except masrhmallows and Ryvitas… just ask my husband, he's the one who fed him chocolate the first time. Murphy on the other hand is much fussier… and more obedient.
I am addicted to reading, Handwork (knitting, cross-stitch, crochet etc) playing cards (500, Canasta etc.) and playing games on the computer (from Tetris to Duke Nukem 3D I'll give anything a bash, just ask my husband).
Since Rebeccas birth I haven't had much time for my own kind of fun, I seem to be wrapped up in what goes into and comes out of her body.. I think all mums do. Thank goodness for the Olympics, now that the cricket and tennis have finished, they are starting to put rubbish on during the day again. Which reminds me I must check out a few videos before my mind completely turns to mush!
