Long thought to be a legend, Aldea was believed to be a peaceful, advanced
world. They used a Planetary Cloaking Device to hide their existance
from intruders resulting in sterility of the population. In 2364
they attempted to kidnap several children from the Enterpri-D in an attempt
to perpetuate their society. After the attempt failed, The Enterprise
helped the Aldeans dissasemble the cloaking device to allow the ozone layer
to reform. |
Editors Notes |
They have suffered severe genetic damage from ozone depletion resulting
from their planetary cloaking device. They are highly advanced in
the arts and sciences but have become sterile from their ancient cloaking
technology. The future of the Aldean race is in serious doubt. |

The Amerindian race has survived on its planet like a people protected
by Federation restriction law number 976/alfa/gamma, which allows only
study through automatic means (such as satellites) and study missions by
experienced and authorized group of scientists, camouflaged to be similar
to the natives. The only exception of this law is the permission to land
on the planet to save a ship in danger; and in this case, the Captain has
to avoid breaking General Order One. |
Editors Notes |
From colonization the Amerindians civilization has not changed a lot;
but the growth of population has brought a lot of tribes to explore new
areas. Some psicohistory expert pretend the new environment will bring
new idea and the start of a technological civilization, but the most popular
opinion is that Amerindian society will still remain the same for a very
long period. |

Quadrant |
Alpha |
Background |
They have characteristics of both mammals and insects. Like mammals,
they are warm-blooded, bear their young live, and have an internal skeletal
structure to which their muscles attach. Like insects, they have a limited
exoskeleton which gives them extra damage resistance from attacks.
They are all ambidextrous. The history of this race was once a violent
one, based on war and conquest. In recent years a small faction has arisen
of those who want to secede from the Federation. Beginning with Raikius,
an Andoraian who started to preach a new faith called "Innerism" where
a person should forget the false concept of warlike virtues, should leave
old ways of living and should search a new "land to conquest" inside the
self. Raikius is similar to the Vulcan Surak and his teachings are
essentially similar, but while Surak believed in logic, Raikius feels logic
to be false with respect to the complexity of real life. |
Editors Notes |
Andor is a hot, dry world with very little surface water, and a gravity
of 0.90 T. While they will fight if challenged, or even challenge
a foe themselves if they feel it to be necessary, they will never quarrel
without a good reason. Also, they tend to remain quiet and listen to discussions
until there is something with meaning to say. Andorians are not usually
very boisterous. Andorians believe in family above all else, even
public duty. Unlike the custom of other Federation worlds, Andorian
marriages require groups of four people. These marriages are very
complicated, and involve a great deal of ritual. Their families are very
large, due to the fact that they are very prolific as well. While
the eyes of an Andorian are actually color blind, their antenna have very
good color receptors in them, and also hold their hearing apparatus.
Their mechanisms for color vision and hearing are so good, they give Andorians
the advantages of infravision and ultrasonic hearing. If one antenna
is destroyed, the Andorian can still "see" but at a loss of what was before.
If both stalks are destroyed, the Andorian becomes deaf and color blind.
Andorians characterize themselves as a violent race. The members
of this race make excellent scientists specializing in botanic, social
sciences, communications, navigation, and in side areas or theoretical
physics, such the study of currents in space (places in deep space where
heavy atoms are relatively common). |

The citizens of Antos IV are noted for their unusual abilities of cellular

IV in that it is not a genetic trait, i.e.- it is an acquired ability that
can be taught to non-Antosians. However, by Antosian law, such techniques
are no longer taught to non-Antosians, as doing so usually induces dangerous
insanity in the subject, as demonstrated by the example of Captain Garth

have presumed that he has moved on in search of another planet to be "god"
to, possibly outside the Alpha Quadrant. The planet has been turned

Tellarites, half humans and a small number of Vulcan. Growth race

TAS: "The Ambergris Element" |

Argo |
Quadrant |
Alpha |
Background |
Once their civilization lived on the land, just like Terrans. A planet-wide
catastrophe caused virtually all the land to sink under the waves. Aquan
scientists developed a serum that would change their race permanently into
water breathers, and administered it to all the population in time to save
the civilization. This was hundreds, if not thousands of years ago in Aquan
history. Now they are all at home in the sea, and blame air breathers (in
essence, their ancestors) for the planetary calamity that overtook them.
The USS. Enterprise arrived to study Argo, and landed in a specially designed
aqua-shuttle but were attacked by a sea monster. McCoy, Scott, and
Lt. Clayton find the missing officers, but they have been transformed into
water breathers. Kirk and Spock explored the submerged world and
find the inhabitants. Hesitantly, the Aquans agree to perform surgery
to return Kirk and Spock to normal, but when Scotty dives down to warn
of an impending quake, they become fearful of air-breathing spies.
Kirk and Spock are deemed treacherous and are sentenced to death. Rila,
a water breather, agrees to help them if they will in turn help him find
a buried city and a way to reverse the mutation. They are successful
and obtain the necessary medicine to help Kirk and Spock, but Kirk nearly
dies from the vaccination. In orbit, the U.S.S. Enterprise uses its
phasers to hit the uninhabited sections of the planet in an attempt to
move the quake's epicenter away from the Aquan city. Grateful for
saving their lives, the young Aquans make their records available to the
Federation and decide to use the new found medicine to reverse their water-breathing
mutations and resume life above ground. |
Editors Notes |
Argoans are creatures of science. The Federation has had only
one contact with Argoans, and have placed a quarantine on the world to
protect both the citizens of the world from unwanted contact from air breathers
and to protect their world from unscrupulous traders wishing to capitalize
on the Argoan's advanced scientific techniques. The Aquans, on their
part, are quite glad not to have any unnecessary contact from air breathers.
They can see very well under the water, having developed nictating membranes
that allows them as much visual ability underwater as they had on land.
They can live at a reasonably great depth underwater, and can swim like
fish. Argoans can live for up to an entire day on land, but must
return to water each day for one hour, or they begin to suffer dehydration.
Most Argoans (Aquans) hate air breathers. The few that do not hate
them still dislike them. The Aquitarians reveal a very limited willingness
to settle differences other races peacefully. This might hint at
a more general xenophobic attitude. Their technology is inferior
to those of the Federation at present. |

which was acquired after undergoing a period in Argelian history known
as the Great Awakening in 2067, which reformed their society from violent
to placid. This pleasure-loving cultural trait makes it necessary to import
administrative officials from other worlds to maintain order. This pacifist
philosophy resulted in a planetary judicial crisis when in 2266 and 2267,
several murders forced the Argelians to revert to ancient Draconian statutes
for punishment of the accused offender. Once a popular resort location,
Argelius II has consistently lost tourism credits over the past few decades
to newer resort worlds, such as Risa. |
Editors Notes |
Argelius II is mentioned to be a Federation member. Their loss of tourism
credits is of course an assumption based on the fact that we have not seen
Argelius II since "Wolf in the Fold", but have seen Risa as the chief tourism
world. |
