Plot

The Enterprise travels to the Omicron Theta star system, where Data was discovered years, ago in order to investigate the disappearance of a colony. In a hidden cave, they find another robot, Data's twin brother Lore, and revive him. They discover, almost too late, that Lore is a megalomaniac and out to destroy the Enterprise.

Goofs

  • Upon beaming down to the planet's surface, Commander Riker gives the stardate as 4124.5. A little later, Captain Picard gives it as 41242.45.
  • Also, the glass of champagne Lore pours for Data goes flat immediately before Data picks it up thanks to the time that passed between the filming of the scenes. You can see it during the traveling wipe.

Quotes

Beverly: "And these small projections?"
Data: "An android alarm clock. Is that amusing?"

Data: "If you had an off switch, Doctor, would you not keep it a secret?"
Beverly: "I guess I would."

Lore: "Lesson Number One in becoming more human. You must observe all human customs."

Lore: "I have more than I ever dreamed possible, brother..."

LaForge: "Now I call that communicating."

Picard: "Shut up, Wesley!"

Beverly: "Shut up, Wesley!"

Wesley: "I heard you know how to turn him on."
Beverly: "This is serious, Wes!"

Wesley: "So just tell me to, 'Shut up, Wesley', and I will."

Data: "How sad, dear brother, you make me wish I were an only child."

Lore: "The troublesome little man-child. Are you prepared for the kind of death you've earned, little man?"

Lore: "Back off or I'll turn your little man into a torch! I promise him exquisite pain!"
