Plot
The Enterprise happens upon a time-rift in space and the world changes
around them as the Enterprise-C comes out of the rift. In this new reality,
the Federation is at war with the Klingons, a war that they are loosing.
Also, Tasha Yar is alive and serving as Tactical Officer aboard the
Enterprise-D, other notible differences is that the bridge is change to be a
war-bridge and the entire Enterprise-D is a battleship instead of a science
vessel, there are now no families on board, Worf is not on board and neither
is Deanna Troi, however Guinan is and she realises that this is all wrong.
While Guinan tries to get a hold of reality Picard discovers that The
Enterprise-C is critically damaged and was apparently involved in a fight
with Romulans while in defense of a Klingon base. The crews eventually
realize that, had the Enterprise-C been successful or at least stayed and
died in defence of the Klingon base, the current war with the Klingons might
have ended there, since the Klingons would have considered that as an act of
honor. Both Picard and Garrett of the C realises, the Enterprise-C must
return even though it is likely to never survive the battle and begins
preperations to make the C ready, under these repairs the Klingons appears
and engage the ships in battle, the first Klingon appears from it's cloaking
device and strikes the C and then simply hides again. Captain Garrett of the
C is killed during this attack and 2nd officer Lt. Castillo asks to take the
ship back through the warp himself. Meanwhile, Guinan, whose peculiar senses
have told her that things are not as they should be, tells Tasha that in the
true timeline, Tasha died an empty death. This convinces Tasha that she
should return with the Enterprise-C as their tactical officer so that her
death can have some meaning, and so she can be with Castillo with whom she
has fallen in love, Picard approves and Tasha returns to her apparent death
22 years ago with the Enterprise C, when the ship enters the rift again the
timeline is returned to normal.
The fact that Tasha went into the past has some sparkling consequences,
which won't be revealed until the cliffhanger of the 4th season
"Redemption", where it shows that Tasha didn't die uppon the arrival in the
past.

Quotes
| Guinan: |
"It's an Earth drink. Prune juice." |
| Worf: |
"Warrior's drink!" |
| Guinan: |
"You always drink alone. It wouldn't hurt yhou to seek out a little... companionship." |
| Worf: |
"I would require a Klingon woman for...companionship. Earth females are too fragile." |
| Guinan: |
"Not all of them. There are a few on this ship that would find you... tame." |
| Worf: |
[Laughs] "Impossible." |
| Guinan: |
"You never know until you try." |
| Worf: |
"Then I will never know." |
| Guinan: |
"Coward." |
| Worf: |
"I was merely concerned for the...safety of my crewmates." |
| Guinan: |
"Drink your prune juice." |
| Guinan: |
"This is not a ship of war. This is a ship of peace." |
| Guinan: |
"There's supposed to be families on board.." |
| Picard: |

| LaForge: |
"Who knows if we're even dead or alive." |
| Garrett: |
"To be honest with you, Picard, a significant number of my crewmembers have expressed a desire to return even knowing the odds. Some because they can't bear to live without their loved ones. Some because they don't like the idea of slipping out in the middle of a fight." |
| Guinan: |
"Tasha, you're not supposed to be here." |
| Yar: |
"Where am I supposed to be?" |
| Guinan: |
"Dead." |

| Yar: |
"I'm...I'm supposed to be dead." |
| Yar: |
"I've always known the risks that came with a Starfleet uniform. If I'm to die in one...I'd like my death to count for something." |
| Yar: |
"Lieutenant Natasha Yar reporting ready for duty, sir.." |
| Yar: |
"Show me one person in your crew, who can do that job as good as me.." |
| Picard: |
"Let's make sure history never forgets the name...'Enterprise'." |
