Plot
The Enterprise encounters the Tamarians, a race with whom they have
never been able to communicate. The Enterprise's mission is to open negoti-
ations with the Tamarians - a mission that seems doomed to failure when the
Tamarians kidnap Picard and strand him on a planet with their own captain
to face a nameless beast.

Goofs
- The very last shot (from outside the ship) shows Picard looking out the
windows of his ready room. You can see a reflection in the window of the
stars moving. However, they are moving straight toward the window. The
ready room on the port side of the ship. The stars should have been
moving left to right (from our reflected view).
|
In-Jokes
- The writers were playing around with the words in this episode, with
DARMOK, the letters reversed, becomes KOMRAD (comrade). JILARD also
becomes JLpIcARD.
- Also, Gilgamesh is based upon Gilgamesh (from Sumerian lore), a character
described as a combination of Solomon, Ulysses, and Hercules combined
into one. One of the important factors after his friend's death is
Gilgamesh's fear of death, although never playing a factor in battle,
results in his constant search for immortality. In one manner or another,
he comes very close, but always manages to miss.
