The Mended Drum is located in Filigree street on the junction with Short street (The longest street in the city) and backs onto the river ankh. The drum has had a long history lasting for over a thousand years.During this time it has witnessed, started and/or destroyed in one regicide, three civil wars, sixty-one major fires (one of which was started when Twoflower introduced the idea of accident insurance to AnkhMorpork), four hundred and ninety robberies and over fifteen thousand bar brawls. 

The drum is frequented by some of the disc's most colourful characters, most notably the Librarian and Death.
