Marvel Comics is celebrating the 10th
Anniversary of Age of Apocalypse, but was is the Age of Apocalypse?
After waking up from a coma, Xavier's son, Legion, thought that his
father's dream had not become a reality because of Magneto. So he
traveled 20 years back in time, when Xavier and Magneto were still
friends. Bishop, Storm, Iceman and Psylocke, traveled back in time to
stop Legion, but lost their memory due to the jump in time.
Legion confronted Erik Magnum (he has still not become Magneto),
and as Legion aimed a psi-blast for Erik, Xavier stood in the way and
gets killed instead. With the battle lost, the X-Men (with the
exception of Bishop) returned home.
Without Xavier, chain of events unfolded differently that what they
should had occurred. Apocalypse had watched the battle that occurred
and decided to take world domination ten years ahead of what he had
originally planned.
Magneto formed the X-Men as an honor to his fallen friend Xavier.
They battle Apocalypse, but are unsuccessful in stopping his world
domination. Now Apocalypse is the ruler of the world, with his home
base in the western part of North America.
Twenty years later, Bishop faces the X-Men and convinces Magneto
that the world they live now is not how it is supposed to be. They
fight Apocalypse, and send Bishop back in time again to avoid Xavier
being killed. Bombs were fired to North America to stop Apocalypse and
his reign. Magneto destroys Apocalypse, but watches as the bombs are
dropping in. In the past, the Age of Apocalypse Bishop is able to stop
Legion and reality returns to how it was supposed to be. |
