The Messier class cruiser was the first dedicated warship built by the Terrans. It was also one of the last exclusively Terran built ships before the Federation was founded. A number of these ships were still around by the time of the Romulan war, and saw considerable action. Along with the Daedalus class cruisers, the Messier was one of the main line defenses against the new threat.
