1.
|
|
Mos Eisley originally came across as a barren,
desert outpost rather than the bustling spaceport that George Lucas
envisioned, and Kenobi described to Luke. Notice how the town looks
more like a ghost town, instead of a busy spaceport.

A new moving aerial shot following the landspeeder
through the city includes extensive CG work. The town has now been
enlarged through new modeling and computer matte paintings. The
result is an environment allowing complete freedom of camera
movement with realistic, detailed perspective shifts.

|
3.
|
|
The other-worldliness of the city was brought to
life with the addition of numerous creatures moving about the
streets. On the horizon, various craft can be seen moving through
the skies above the city.

A wide overal view of Mos Eisley, where you can see the Speeder bustling through the streets. The Image
includes all the effects used in Star Wars Special Edition: Matte Paintings, Blue Screen filming,
and Computer Graphics.

As the speeder runs through Mos Eisley, it passes by an Imperial Transport, which's been
loaded by these new utility droids.

|
Luke, Ben, R2D2 and C3PO has just arrived to the center of Mos Eisley, and are
getting of from the speeder. They just got by the nosy stormtrooper, thanks to Ben. In the back you
can notice the new addition - a CG Ronto. Another thing that you should notice in this image,
is the crystal clear and bright picture quality.

At this shot where Luke, Ben and the droids are entering the Cantina, you can see
the Dewback resting at the left side of the picture.

The following frames show the Millenium Falcon's new departure from Mos Eisley,
which is now made with Computer Graphics. In the original version Falcon's departure was made with a
miniature of the Millenium Falcon.

This is the final shot from the scene where the Millenium Falcon is leaving Mos Eisley.
Notice the other vehicles in the sky.
