"Abducted"

Disclaimer: Yes I know I wasn't too creative with these names that do belong to DS9, but I couldn't think of any. Paramount does.
I absolutely hate math. Why do I hafta take three years of friggin' math when I want to be a writer?! It makes absolutely no sense. Leeta Rom thought grumpily as she walked home from her after-school bus stop one chilly autumn day.
She was VERY cranky and frustrated from her extra-help math session at school. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't understand the concepts of those evil, sadistic numbers.
Since Leeta was especially tired today, she decided to take the short cut through the woods behind her development to get home more quickly. She began stomping through the well-worn path in the woods, scattering fallen leaves of various colors with her erratic footsteps.
Stupid, malevolent, pre-calc. Leeta thought, suddenly kicking through a large pile of leaves. It makes my head hurt. Leeta gasped as she got a sudden, stabbing pain in her head, it felt as if someone was taking a drill and putting it right through the top of her skull. She briefly wondered if it was the numbers that were making her head hurt, before falling unconscious on the damp, leafy ground.
"Owwww..." Leeta mumbled as she returned to consciousness. She put a hand to her head. She was very cold. What the hell-- she thought briefly, and opened her eyes. The last thing she remembered was walking through the forest being really pissed off at the subject math, then--then nothing. It was dark out now. Realizing her parents must be worried to death, she ran home.
Leeta strode up the walk to her house, taking note that her mother's car wasn't in the garage. That takes care of Mom being worried, she thought. She went to open the door, but found it locked. Guess Ben is at a Miles' house playing video games. Leeta took out her house keys and opened the door.
She heard a friendly "woof" from the top of the staircase. "Hi Worf," she said to the German Shepherd peering at her from the top of the staircase. Worf got her name from the funny-sounding bark she sometimes made when she was upset.
The overgrown puppy bounded down the stairs to be petted.
Leeta absently scratched Worf behind the ears, threw her book bag into a corner, and headed into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. She was looking for leftover macaroni and cheese. There was none. She opened the freezer and found some triple chocolate ice cream. She took it out and opened the other side of the fridge to take out the chocolate syrup and chocolate sprinkles. Why am I so depressed? Leeta thought, realizing she was setting herself up for chocolate overload. Not that it was a bad thing. Oh yeah, it's that stupid math class, she reminded herself sarcastically.
Leeta opened a cabinet, took a bowl out, and set it on the counter then opened a drawer to look for an ice cream scoop. She found it. As she held it in her hand she gasped and staggered back, fell to the floor, and couldn't move. A forgotten scene flashed through her mind, but it was blurry, all she could see was blurry shapes seemingly hovering above her. And just as quickly as it had come, the sensation passed, and Leeta didn't remember the intense fear she had just experienced only moments earlier. That was weird, Leeta thought. She shrugged and finished creating her triply chocolate confection, then headed for the living room to waste some more brain cells watching some quality television. Finding nothing to her liking, she settled on a documentary about alien abductions.
Alien abductions. How dumb. Leeta gave a short laugh and rolled her eyes, after watching the program for a few minutes. How dumb. I can't believe people actually think they've been taken off the planet by "spacemen". She listened to the narrator drone on and on, and seemingly endless series of alien abductees with their SOB abduction stories.
Slowly, Leeta's eyes got heavier and heavier, and she eventually fell asleep, despite the caffeine raging through her system after the cocoa delicacy.
Leeta's eyes popped open and she realized she had fallen asleep. The house was dark, and she was covered by a blanket. Guess Daddy is home, Leeta thought, remembering how her father always covered her with a blanket when she fell asleep on the couch with a book on her chest over the summer.
She sighed and glanced at the clock. It was about two in the morning. Leeta jumped slightly as she realized she hadn't done her homework when she realized it was Friday night and she had the whole weekend to attempt to conquer the evil she called pre-calculus.
Leeta was very comfy on her warm spot on the couch, so she kicked off her shoes and went to sleep, she started dreaming almost immediately.
A bright light shone into her face upon opening her eyes. She winced as she got a sudden pain in her head again. Where am I? She thought. A hospital, perhaps?
Leeta suddenly heard something, possibly someone approaching. Then she saw a shadow over her face, followed by another one soon after. Everything was blurry. She heard strange clicking and humming sounds, but it didn't sound like any type of machine, it sounded like--
Leeta's heart stopped. Is that a language?! Where the hell am I? Am I dreaming? Am I really am where I think I am? she thought, tightly closing her eyes and shaking her head as if to stop the horrible realization of her impossible location from coming to her. No, no, of course not. This is from watching that ludicrous alien abduction show--isn't it?
No, no, no! Leeta thought. It can't be true, can it? How can I be dreaming and know that I'm dreaming? Is that even possible? I've been watching too much X-Files, and I'm dreaming. But if I'm dreaming, why am I in pain?
"No, this can't be happening..." Leeta murmured. Upon her speaking, the clicking and humming sounds emanating from the two shadows above her suddenly stopped, and the bright light above her disappeared.
Leeta slowly opened her eyes. At first, she couldn't see anything due to the dimmed light. Then as the two shadows hovering over her came into focus, Leeta started whimpering. Above her were two very tall people that had thin oval heads and with tight, dark blue skin stretched tightly over, as if their skulls were a mask, and would rip apart at the slightest movement. Their eyes were two ivory marbles set in the middle of their face and Leeta couldn't see any apparent mouths or noses on the people. Leeta finally realized she they weren't people--they weren't even human!
Omigosh....Leeta began to panic. Her pulse started racing. Aww shit...I'm not dreaming.
Leeta bolted into an upright position from where she was laying on the couch in a cold sweat, and scared out of her mind. The moonlight shone in harshly through the sky light in the cathedral ceiling of the townhouse. Worf looked at Leeta with her head cocked from her doggy bed from across the living room for a moment, then laid her head back between her paws and went back to sleep.
Leeta looked around the room, not knowing why she was so petrified. She thought she saw a dark shadow with two marble eyes, and dived under the sparse cover, trembling.
The next thing she knew, there was sunlight shining brightly into her face, and a pressure on her feet. She looked to the other end of the couch, and saw Worf laying on her feet. Silly puppy-pooh, she thought, before gently pushing the puppy off her numb but warm feet to get up to get something to eat.
Leeta decided to have a bagel for breakfast, and she rarely had breakfast. So it was kinda odd that she was having it today. She picked up the butter knife off of the counter to butter her bagel, when she got another flash of memory--it seemed more in focus this time...
She was back on the cold, smooth, table, except this time, there were no shadows hovering over her. Instead, there was some kind of extension arm hanging over her, with various instruments attached to it, they looked like probes of some sort...
Jadzia leaned back in her chair. Dammit, not again, she thought, gazing at the laptop screen before her, the words of her latest story glowing back at her. Why do I hafta get writer's block whenever a story is getting really good? Maybe it's one of those inescapable things. She took a sip of her hot chocolate. Oh well. Jadzia's eyes suddenly lit up as she got an idea. She cracked her knuckles and promptly got back to typing, but not before thinking she shouldn't base her characters on real life so much...
