Caterpie is very young and met all of his friends when he was still in the Viridian Forest. He still likes to go there to play around and find and talk to his friends. Sometimes he even has pretend battles with them. I think that's so cute! Also, he even likes to see what the inside of a pokéball looks like. I mostly let him play with his friends. It gives him more exp. points that way.
