Stuart is not sure of the day, but he will try and find if he can set it a bit closer to when it actually happened. He knows the event occurred between 1987 and 1988.! Stuart is a promary school teacher and is now about 35/36 years old, born in 1961, so he was 25 or 26 years old at the time of the event. Stuart says: "I was coming from the General Hospital in Mutare, walking down Pasture Avenue, Hospital Hill, towards Florida. It was around 19:00 - 19:30 hours. On the way I had to take a short cut through an open area where horses are kept. Before I got to the path that leads to their field, I saw this 'thing'. It was about 100 meters up in the air, a bluish-grey, with a rugby ball shape with spikes on the sides. When I loked at it, I could not speak or move. The whole area seemed to be silent; it was quite frighteneing. There was a little girl playing on the varanda of a house @, on this road. I called out to her saying 'Look, a UFO.' I was shouting but she did not respond. For the past few years after this event, I kept on telling myself, I must go to the house where she was and find out if this girl had a hearing problem, but I seemed always to forget or something else came my way. I am even surprised that I am writing this letter. Anyway, I began to run with much effort and it seemed to be in slow motion. # The object just hovered almost above me. I ran to the field where the horse were and I stopped again. The horse did not move at all; $ they just stood there with their heads up. This object was making a very high-pitched noise, a sort of winding sound. % "There were green, blue and a sort of orangey-red lights around it which were flashing. ^ "I seemed to be stuck to the ground for a long time. Then there was silence again. I seemed to be out of myself and it was very frightening. "The
silence was broken again and the winding-high-pitched sound started. That
is when I was able to move and I ran across the field. This is a polocross
field. The horses also began to run around
"I ran and ran; the object flew higher up and shot across the sky. I stopped and watched it. It went straight to the west, towards Feruka Oil Refinery. * "I arrived home sweating and banged on the door. I called my wife and children and my young brother who was about 12 years old at the time. They thought I was going mad. I pointed in the direction of where the object had gone but just the lights could be seen flashing in the distance. ( "I told my wife what had happened and she believed me and so did my work mates. The next afternoon I phoned the local newspaper, the Manica Post, and they thought it was a hoax. I told many friends who thought I was joking. "At that time I played basketball and did weightlifting. I was quite fit and did not consume alcohol. Strangely enough, I never went to the site again for about six years. What stopped me, I cannot say. After seeing this object, I drew it and showed it to many friends, but they still thought I was joking. It all worried me very much. "I shared the event with my family and friends, but nothing serious was discussed. Strange things began to happen. I could foretell different happenings, even death and accidents. I kept this only between myself and my wife, as she knew what I was going through. "I began to drink and still do. I also became highly sexually active, and it is a problem for me. But the strangest thing is that in 1988, I developed a fungus in my ear, which I still have to this day. I have been to the ear specialist and have tried all medicines and even some home remedies, but with little success. When something bad is going to happen, my ears itch. I can feel it and sometimes hear my ears squeak. This fungus seems alive. I tell you, I have gone through all sorts of medication right until now. I gave up going to the doctor. On July 16th, 1997, I tried a local product (Betadinc ontment) but I noticed a hard white fluid come out of my ears like silicon, or glue. ! ) "Strangely enough this itch made me leave many places when fights started, only to find a friend was stabbed or beaten up. This has happened so many times. This year (1997) my ears itch badly again during february and March and I told my wife that there was going to be a death. For sure, a cousin of mine was killed in Harare. His head was crushed in an accident and another two people died of natural causes. I could see or feel all of them, even when my father passed away in 1993, I knew it; I felt it. "In 1995, I seemed to have a heart problem, so my doctor sent me for an ECG and X-rays. My heart was, and is, O.K. but the doctor was shocked to find I had a rib removed on my left side. At first he said to me, 'Have you had an accident recently?' I told him I had not. That is when I asked 'Why?' He then told me I had a rib which had been cleanly cut off at the spine. I have had X-rays before but there was no such problem. Unfortunenately, I cannot find the old X-rays, they seemed to have disappeared from the cupboard where I kept them, although I don't know when that could have happened. "The doctor said, perhaps I was born like that, but I denied it as it would have shown up before. He also said that if I had been born like that, the other ribs would have grown slightly crooked to cover the area of the missing rib. ! ! But he affirmed that all the other ribs were normal. "I want to find out if something really happened to me on that day, or are they just coincidences? It has worried me very much for a long time. Now it is the 17th of July, 1997 and while my class is working at an English test, I finally decided to write this letter and tell you my story. My ears still itch and I am still without one rib on my left hand side. "I am a strong believer in the Christain faith and read my Bible and pray regularly. After I saw this object I drew it on the board at school, also on the ground to demonstrate to friends; I put it down on paper, where-ever I had the chance to record it. And I am now drawing it for you. Fortunately, I soon forgot about the incident until now when I felt I needed to talk about it. "One point I want to make is that the flashing lights seemed to draw in or go off slowly (not just on and off) but on , then half on, then one quarter on, and then on again. The colours of the lights I remember were not the normal blue, orange, red, green. They seemed far-away colours, difficult to explain. "I have this fear of the whole incident over me all the time. I just don't know what it is all about and what I should do."
! We have now received a letter from Stuart, who has thought about the date and says it was 1988, either at the end of September or mid-October. He based this on the fact that his brother was in Grade 6B at the time. @ Stuart is able to identify the house where the girl was playing and has given us the address and the name of the peopel living there. They are still the same people who were there in 1988, and we are busy following this up now. # When we wrote to Stuart, we asked if he had felt paralyzed at this juncture. In his reply, he says: "I could not move for a while and when I did, it was in slow motion, yet the strides I took were abnormally long and swift and smooth. Strangely enough, I have had several dreams about myself floating across this area. You know, floating sometimes on my stomach; sometimes crouched and as though I am sailing across the field. When I wake up I feel as if I really did float. The feeling is so strong at times, and quite frighteneing. There always seems to be total silence, yet a distant hum!" $ "The horses did not move and it seemed this was for a long time; in fact, it seemed as though this was forever. After the object Had gone, the horses ran in all directions. I could feel myself running ans sweating. It was a very strange feeling." % Stuart says the high-pitched humming sound was like an electric generator or motor, but almost silent (difficult for himto explain). He felt as though the sound emanated from within himself, instead of from outside. ^

colours were quite strange. They seemed like faked colours, shining
and captivating, especially the blue, orangey-red and green."
* The craft moved between a 45) and 90) angle as it went higher and higher and then just disappeared. ( "I seemed to be in the polo-cross field for hours, yet when I arrived home, it was about 19:45 or 20:15. It was as though I had only been gone 45 to 50 minutes. But for the time I spent watching this object, it seemed a long time." ! ) "THe running matter from my ear has a strange smell and it comes and goes. It usually oozes out of my left ear." [We are trying to arrange for Stuart to see an ear, nose, and throat specialist here in Harare to see if this 'ear disturbance' is due to natural causes, or if indeed, there is an unusual object (like the rumoured implants that are regularly reported in the USA) in his ear. We will continue to report on this case as it progresses. -Ed.] ! ! Stuart says: "The missing rib has me baffled. My doctor thought I had had an accident some time before, but nothing as far as I was concerned. There are no scars; the rib just went missing. Or perhaps I was born like this. I really don't know, yet I would like to find out. I do have the X-ray showing a missing rib and I could arrange for you to talk to my doctor about this. He seems quite baffled, but I did not tell him about my UFO experience." Cythia
