Macross, site of the French atmoic bomb testing in the mid twentith century. And in 1999, site of a whole new type of test for the human race.

It feel from the sky at possibly the worst time and the best time. The world was in gridlock and civil war dominated the landscape. Entire cities were deserted and left in ruins from enemy attacks of both side. It was no longer a question of the best trained, but the side with the most power. Anyone that could fight, did. But what entered the Earth's atmosphere that year changed everything for eternity.

On it's uncontroled fall, the Super Dimension Fortess, as it was later coined, produced shock waves equal to those of a falling star, ripping trees out of the ground with seemingly little effort and toppling entire cities with ease. It spread almost as much death and destruction in a few seconds, than the entire human race had accomplished in ten years. It finally found a resting place on the small island that would become it's home for the next ten years, Macross.

Exploration of the ship started imediately with a team than involved such people as Roy Fokker, Captain of the Kenosha Henery Gloval, the briliant German scientist Dr. Emil Lang, and a free lancer named Tomas Riely Edwards. During the first expedition, many of the marines that went in, didn't come out as they fought for their lives.

After that situation, work on rebuilding and restoring the fortess went quickly. Dr. Lang, along with some of the most briliant minds living at the time dove into the huge project to uncover some of the alien secrets baried inside the SDF-1, as it was later called.

And it all turned for the better as something Dr. Lang called Robotechnology was discovered. It actually gave machines the power to transform into various shapes and sizes. But along with Robotechnology came something far greater. Something much more advanced and impossible to comprehend. Protoculture. The very essance of Robotechnology and the foundation on which it was built. Protoculutre seemed to be more than just a fuel, it seemed to have the characterisistics of a life force. So complex not even Lang could grasp it.

After ten years of research and development, the Robotech Defence Force was formed. The threat of invasion had brought a quick hault to the civil war and introduced an even worse fate. The thought of invasion from a more advanced civilization.

Through the RDF, several new and highly potent weapons were developed, such as the Veritch Valkaries and the land based mecha, such as the Spartans, Excaliburs, and Galdiators.
The Zentreadi came in a huge show of force with 1 million warships under the command of Breetai. Along with his assistant, Exedore, chased the SDF-1 halfway across the galaxy to a small blue and white planet, Earth. While an airshow was in progress down on Macross island, the Zentraedi sent two scout ships ahead to search for the downed ship. Down on Macross island, the newly remodeled SDF-1 suddenly came to life and it's main gun swivled into place, then fired. The beam shot out across the island, out into Earth's atmosphere, and was gone.

Little did the Earth know that it was about to become part of the most massive war in the known universe. After finding out what the main gun had fired at, two Armor Class war crusiers were sent against the titanic fleet, and quickly slaughtered. The Zentraedi battlepods entered Earth's atmosphere, expecting an easy victory, but were quickly driven off by the more manuverable Veritechs. Then the real war began.

The SDF-1 was forced to lift-off and combat the huge armada of warships, but with little success. The SDF-1 attempted a space fold, which was suppose to land them on the far side of the moon. But instead, they found themselves in orbit of Pluto with what was left of Macross island floating under them. They quickly salvaged what they could from the wreakage and started on their long journey home to Earth. Then the situation got worse.

The Zentreadi once again found the SDF-1 and continuiously attacked it. Time and time again knocking it farther off course of it's destination, Earth. The VT's and Battlepods met head-on, destroying each other in the masses. This proved to be the most trying time as VT pilots were forced to either 'fly, or die' as they put it. The best fighter pilots of all time came out of this period. People such as Max Sterling, Rick Hunter, Roy Fokker, and the rest. They all fought valiently, and in the end, some payed the ultimate price.

Two years past, and the SDF-1 finally reached Earth. After a heated debate between Earth's ruling government and Lisa Hayes, the SDF-1 was finally allowed to set down and gather supplies. During that time, Roy Fokker and Ben Dixon lost their lives to Zentraedi attacks. The SDF-1 was once again forced to launch and face the Zentraedi in space for a second time. Through human emotion, the SDF-1 was finally able to win over what remained of the vast Zentraedi armada. And the Zentraedi and humans became allies in the fight against the largest fleet ever assembled. The Zentraedi loyal to Dozla came in force with 4 million warships that surrounded the Earth. After a short while, they fired and vaporized most of the planets inhabitence. In the final stages of the battle, the SDF-1 punched a hole through the middle of Dozla's command ship, killing him and his most important leaders. From then on, the Zentraedi quickly fell.

After the defeat of the Zentreadi, Khyron, the last known military leader, put up an organized resistence. And through his effort, even though he was killed, able to destroy both the newly constructed SDF-1, and SDF-2. And so ended the first Robotech war.
