This section will tell you what cards are and are not allowed in ST:GG. Also, it will inform you of what cards are in play at the begining of the game, and what cards have an altered play-style in ST:GG.
Start-Up Cards (17 cards):
With the exception of facilities, all of the cards in the below list cannot be destroyed, moved, or removed from play. Also, unless it notes a location otherwise, all Start-Up Cards are played in the center of the galaxy, out of the way of the Borg Outpost and the Gamma Quadrent. If you are playing ST:GG in a league, these cards will be provided by the Overseer(the League Host), and you will not have to bring them.

Card Targets:
Some cards have altered rules and/or uses about the way they play or are played. A listing of such cards appears below, along with their changes or explainations. If a card is not on this list, then it plays the same way it does in a regular game of ST:CCG, just as the card or Glossary says.
- Alien Probe - This card now reads:
Plays in sector that you are currently in. Any player in that sector must have their hand (cards) exposed face up on the table at all times, except when targeted by Alien Telepathic Kidnappers (May not be nulified).
- Bajoran Wormhole - If one of the Start-Up ends is destroyed, then when a player reopens the wormhole, they must place the two cards on the missions "Characterize Neutrino Emissions," and "Camping Trip."
- Borg Ship - Moves clockwise or counter-clockwise (owners choice) making one full circle around the galaxy. After it reaches the mission on which it was encountered, it is discarded. If the owner so chooses, it may enter the Gamma Quadrant (GQ). After reaching the last mission on the GQ line, it is dicarded, it does not double-back.
- Dial Martok for Murder - Must target two personnel belonging to the same player.
- Klim Dokachin - Choose an opponent for Klim to "keep an eye on." Targets one player only, who is chosen at the time you play the card.
- Plasma Fire - Damages a ship only at the end of the ships owners turns.
- Q - Allows card owner to swap around any locations in the sector where it was encountered if its conditions are not met, (See: Mission Layout).
- Rogue Borg Mercenaries - Attack only on the affected and owning players turns.
- Static Warp Bubble - Targets one player only, who is chosen at the time you play the card.
- Telepathic Alien Kidnappers - Targets one player only, who is chosen at the time you play the card.
- Transwarp Conduit - Any player may play one of these to move from one TNG to another TNG (as normal), or from one TNG to the Borg Outpost (only in ST:GG).
- Transwarp Network Gateway (TNG) - The Borg player seeds one of these cards at the mission "Investigate Incursion" and their Borg Outpost.
Banned Cards:
Certain cards have been banned from play in ST:GG for a variety of reasons. Cards that are not allowed to be played in any way or at any time in the game are listed below.
Artifact-
Dilemma (S)-
Dilemma (S/P)-
Dilemma (P)-
Event-
- Fair Play
- Intermix Ratio
- Raise The Stakes
Also...
- Any card lore that refers to player punishment for a Space or Planet difference is also ignored, (such as in the case of the Q Dilemma "I Tried To Warn You").
- Far end of spaceline, farthest planet, etc. - This location is exactly 27 mission cards away from where it was encountered.
- When inserting cards (such as Bajoran Wormhole, Gaps in Normal Space or Qs Planet) into the spaceline, simply place the card in between two missions without shifting any cards on the grid to create an extra space.
