What can you say about Jerusalem? It is the focal point (or at least one of the most important ones) for three of the world's major religions: Christianity, Islam and Judaism, and also the capital city of the state of Israel. Probably no city in the history of the world has been fought over more times than the one behind me.
I am currently sitting on top of the Mount of Olives where, according to Christian tradition, Jesus came the night before his crucifixion. You can see some of the old city walls, and the shining golden dome of the Dome of the Rock, where according to Islamic tradition, Mohammed ascended to heaven. Just beyond and behind that (and unfortunately, invisible from this view) is the so-called Wailing Wall, the most sacred site in Judaism, which they believe is the last remaining remnants of Solomon's temple, built in 900 BC.
Everyone should see Jerusalem at least once in their lifetimes, no matter what your beliefs. So says the pontificating bunny!
Aish HaTorah - Window on the Western Wall - Here is a live camera feed from the Wailing Wall.
Jerusalem - Capital of Israel - This is an excellent site run by Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Virtual Tour of Jerusalem - Want to walk the streets of this Holy City from the comfort of your chair? This is the place to do it.
Jerusalem Our Immortal City - Here is a good site also, although it is rather political in that it tries to present Jerusalem from the point of view of an "occupied" city.
THE JERUSALEM POST DAILY INTERNET EDITION - An on-line version of Jerusalem's leading newspaper.
Time to move on to Syria!
