Nurgle Plague Marines
This article explains how I made a squad of Nurgle Plaguebearers. You will need only a small amount of modelling expereince (it was the first major modelling project I ever did).
I was looking through one of my many hundreds (18 actually....) of White Dwarfs the day after I bought the Chaos Codex. I flicked through the Chaos article about staff members chaos armies in White Dwarf 202, and Adrian Wood's Nurgle Plague Marines caught my eye. This article is about my attempt to achieve a similar effect by combining skeletons with plastic space marines. The main advantage of doing this was I turned 4 Space Marines and 4 skeletons that I don't use, into 8 usable Plague Marines.
What you will need:
- A Number of Space marines
- An Equal number of Skeletons
- A Selection of weapons (bolt pistols and knives, and a few heavy weapons)
- A Good Sharp Knife
- A large amount of plastic Cement
I used skeletons from the MB game Heroquest, and some old Spacemarines from the other MB game, Space Crusade.
All I did, was chop up a Marine, and A skeleton. As long as the components match up. e.g. I cut up the Marine into 4 pieces, The body and Legs, both Shoulder Pads attached to the arms, and the Head. This corresponded with the skeleton. I then stuck the Skeleton Head and Arms to the space Marine body, and vice versa. Plague Marines come with bolt pistols, and plague knives, so these weapons were added from my collection. I used a Plasma gun from Space Crusade on one of the models, and a missile launcher (I know it's not allowed, but it just looked so kewl!) to another.
I then painted them in a fairly basic colour scheme, using mainly a rancid green colour, bone, and a smattering of pink.
