The etymology:

Alexandre Ypsilanti (Istanbul 1792-Vienne 1828) is Greek by birth but later became general for the Russian army. After several battles to the front, he quitted Russia to find shelter at home, in Greece, where he became a great inspiration for his subdued peoples. His leadership brought the Balkans to unite and induced them to revolt against the Turkish invader. Alexandre Ypsilanti died to the fight in the course of this revolution, but his brother, Dimitrios, took the revolt of the Balkans in hand that would lead them to the liberation of their oppressors.

Its inspired by this tradition of courage and tenacity and from the determination of this Greek family to refuse and react against the oppression that Ypsilanti is born. This energy arising from the liking for change and the call into question, Ypsilanti translate it in words and music. The band is also profoundly inspired by madness and its frontiers, the absurd of our world and the existence. That's what inspired the title of our site: the theater of the absurd. By means of amphigourous considerations, madness join the absurd to give rise to boutering and the burlesque fantasy that also emanate from Ypsilanti

Lets see who are those Ypsilantists...

The Ypsilanti family was an inspiration for others. For example, a city in the southeast Michigan is also called Ypsilanti. But only the name link us to this city. May-be one day, Ypsilanti the city will present Ypsilanti the band! The city of Ypsilanti

The show have been greatly appreciated and full of our genuine color. Here are few imagesof this show that was very important to us.

But as Chicoutimi haven't been built in one day, our music is inspired by a many other great bands, who influenced us. Those bands water us and germinate the seeds of our own inspirations (that is an image...).
