My Guitar Collection Part 1
SS Stewart Archtop circa 1920s I got this baby from West Mobile Music in Mobile, AL. The pickguard is made from tortoise shell. My buddy Mike Murphy had wanted to put this pickguard on his pretty D'Angelico but I said `Hell No!!' Rizal Ross wants this guitar bad and has occasionally named it `Rizal's Guitar' This archtop is great for ol' time rhythm and jazz music. A trully beloved ax. Oh...dream on Rizal...

Recommended tunes: `My Way', `I Will Survive', `Gallows Pole', `Crossroads.'
My flagship acoustic instrument at the moment. This guitar has a brown sunburst finish and a great V-neck. It has a professionally repaired crack on the top though. Other than that its flawless for its vintage. Comes with the original aligator case and has a sticker `US Postmaster' on it. I use it for many Clapton `Unplugged' tunes such as `Layla', `Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out', and `Hey, Hey.'

A truly excellent guitar that gives me the vibes...of the 30s. Traded my Framus semi-electric acoustic guitar with Mike Murphy for this guitar right before I left the United States for good in '97
Gibson L37 Archtop 1937
Gibson Les Paul Custom 1983 My very first Les Paul! Found it in Mobile, AL. A superb instrument for blues and rock. A commplimentary record to jam with would be any Rolling Stones album featuring Keith Richards on a triple pickup Les Paul Custom `Black Beauty.' The tone is very similar. Nowadays this Les Paul rarely leaves my room due to its rarity and value in this part of the world. The frets are pretty worn out thus restricting it being fiercely bent by an average blues player like me. Also the lacquer is badly checked on the top due to humidity factors. Other than that it will stay in Jalan Gombak until its next lifetime...

This Les Paul has fine tuners in place of the regular stop tailpiece, a maple top, a mahogany back, and a cool faded silverburst finish.Even the bindings have yellowed out due to aging. A pass-on-next-generation guitar.
This is really a great Strat! I bought it from a local friend in Kuala Lumpur. Very biting tone, great for the authentic Fender tone lover. My tribute to `Blackie'-(EC's beloved Strat).

Basically this Strat is utilized as a studio instrument for jams around town simply because of its praticality, namely its lightness, its sturdiness, and a general workhorse feel overall.

I usually play Strats without their tremolo arms but whenever a catchy Shadows tune comes along in my ear, then its turning the reverb knob to the max, and the tremolo arm vibrating at about 140 bpm (beats per minute)....Hank it is GREAT!!!
Fender American Standard Stratocaster circa 1990s
