Pitfalls We All Know and Love

Apostrophe CD's vs. CDs They're both correct, but in different circumstances. If you have more than one, you have several CDs . (No apostrophe because it's not possessive.) Personal pronouns He gave it to you and I vs. to you and me You wouldn't say, " He gave it to I ." The same principle applies to between you and I . Between is a preposition, and Miss Post said we needed to use an objective pronoun with a preposition, so we know that she gave that advice to me and him . (I know it doesn't sound right, but that's because we're getting used to hearing the TV commentators say it wrong.)
Spelling alot vs. a lot A lot is nice to have if you need plenty of RAM (or are building a house, for that matter). Alot is a misspelling of a verb. Even if you allot enough time for a project, it'll take another hour.
Spelling alright vs. all right All right is the opposite of all wrong . See above because I can't think of another joke right now to help you remember.
