Attended a government kindergarden school (P.A.P) about 3km away from home leaving my toys behind.
Graduated at the end of the year, preparing to enter Primary one in Bedok View Primary which is 200m away facing my flat where we used to stay.
Damned! My school bag really put on plenty of weight. This was the year when I first met my friend John Loh, we remained in contact whenever possible and currently we're in the same University doing the same course.
This was the lousiest year of all, my form teacher Mrs Ha kept on calling for my elder sister whom were in the same school as me, complaining that I've been a very mischevious and asked her to tell my mum about it. Despite of all the hassle my teacher gave, my sis remained silent throughout (Thank You Sis!). Eventually, Mrs Ha passed away somewhere in 1995.
I joined the school scout group and became quite involved in it. This was also the year I got to know another close friend named Galvin Lian and we are still in contact till now, he's presently in NTU doing Electrical Engineering.
This got to be a boring year, just another ordinary year because I really can't remember what happened that year!
Quite scouting anymore due to the teacher in charge kept on forgetting to issue more than 3 badges to me, my hard earned badges all gone down to the drain. Dunn!!!
Final year in primary school and the year for P.L.S.E, the examination needed to sit for in order to get into a secondary school. I got 3 points less needed to get into the express stream in secondary school, hence, I was allocated normal stream and that's 5 years compared to 4. Anyway, I was in the same school as John and my dear beloved sister.
People really seems to be very aggressive in Secondary one, fighting was an act which was quite inevitable at all. I nearly screwed up the exam and missed the next level. Eventually, I made it to the next level but got into the last class of it's level.
Added some efforts in studying and got a position 7 in class but my maths let me down with no exception since primary six. Though my average reuslt seems to be much higher than many others, I was still denied to the technical and science stream due to my inability in maths. Thus, missed my chance in secondary school to study Physics which at that time I didn't know Physics is an important subject in order to study Engineering in the future.
Started my life as an arts stream student doing literature instead of physics. Edward, my new tution teacher really helped me a lot because he gave me a chance to proved to others that getting an "A" grade in maths and science is nothing unusual to me ever again.
Did my N' level examination and obtained reasonable grades to carry on to secondary five. This was also the year when John graduated from his secondary school life and went on to Singapore Polytechnic to seek a Diploma in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
The year of TRAGEDY, the worst compared to the ending of Romeo & Juliet by Shakespear. I overslept for one of the English GCE O' level paper (GCSE equivalent). That evening before the incident, I was preparing for my history exam which was supposed to take place few hours after the English paper in the next morning. Since I have a habit of studying alone and away from my house, I got home at 12 midnight after my revision and tried to get to some shut eyes. I couldn't get to sleep no matter how hard I tried, they were to no avail. Dawn finally came, I was totally exhausted and went into deep sleep without knowing my alarm clock rang. By the time I woke up, it was the time for the my fellow school mates to stop anymore writing for the English paper. I went straight to examination hall on arrival to school and consulted the examiners regarding my absent. I was directed to my Principal and I told her what actually went wrong and asked for her help. Despite of the appeal letter she wrote for me to the examination board, I wasn't awarded any grade for my English exam. When the results were released, I was told by my form teacher, Mr Pung that I've achieved the best results in the whole class if it's not becasue of the missing grade for English. I was really sad and disappointed, or the correct word should be DEVASTATED. I went biazared for quite a while because I am getting to nowhere without a credit in English.
Found a job in a chinese restaurant named "Spring Court" and followed by signing myself up for a resit in GCE O'level English at the Orchard Private School. The school was crap, everyone there weren't interested in studying and a frequent change of teachers causes me to stop attending class. I continued working and eventually went for the exam not realising that the format of the papers I used to take were the last of its kind in the previous year..
Got my results for the resit exams (min 3 subjects to be taken) and waiting for my turn to do my National Service as an army boy. I was called to serve and report to CMPB in 13th September 1993.
Enjoying my life in the army as a brigade level reconnasance trooper. My application to Bellerbys college to do A' level has been successful and was counting the days till I leave for Bellerbys in Brighton (U.K).
September finally came, I was out of the army as a status of disruptee and proceed on to the next level in academic life.
Finally, I got a chance to take up Physics after all these years. I started off doing GCSE physics for about half a year and got a C grade in it. I then carried on to do A' level Physics, Chemistry and Maths (Pure and Applied) for the rest of the duration in Bellerbys.
Did my A' level exams with grades satisfying enough for me to get into University of Sussex but later transferred to Leicester University as a Mechanical Engineering student in September. Consequently, through my own observation, I realised that majority of the lecturers suck for I found it quite impossible for me to copy the notes from the O.H.P and listen to the lecturer at the same time.
Nonetheless, despite of the terrible teaching methods, I managed to obtain a good 2.1 standard without the need to listen in class, or should I say not understanding in class at all??? I was then promoted to the second year.
I started off with lousy grades for the first semester that stands 50% for this year, but I belived I'm gonna put more effort for this coming semester so as to cover for the loss. ( If I could, I will updatel you people at the end of August).
Well, if you can forsee the future, tell me then because I hate to waste my time....
