Like every teenager at 17 Britney Spears enjoys doing the normal, shopping, reading romance and walking along beaches. But one thing makes Britney stand out from the crowd, she makes music and is good at it. With her first release "Baby One More Time" going to number 1 in both America and the UK she looks set to make an impression on the music industry.

From the little town of Kentwood, Louisiana (pop:1200) she is no stranger to performing. From her early childhood she sang in church choirs and performed in local dance reviews. At the tender age of 8 she auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club on the Disney Channel in Atlanta. To young to be on the show but to good to pass over, the producer arranged an agent in New York from which she studied at the Off-Broadway Dance Centre and the Professional Performing Art's School. She the began to appear in commercials and off-Broadway productions.
At the age of 11 she was finally old enough to join the Mickey Mouse Club where she stayed for two years before returning home to lead a normal year of life at high school. She soon began to focus on her future as her energy to explore the world grew "It was fun for a while but I started getting really itchy to get out and see the world."

At the age of 15 Britney was once again back in New York auditioning for an all girl vocal group which lead to her being selected for a solo career as a pop singer. And the rest as they say is history.
