Whats your earliest musical memory?
Driving up to Bathurst every Easter when I was young and listening to Air Supplys "Greatest Hits" tape that my parents owned. I used to play it over and over again probably not the best introduction to the world of music, but I guess it didnt do too much harm.
Who would you say has been most influential to you as a musician?
Its really hard to pinpoint one person. Id have to say either Brian Setzer (Stray Cats guitar and vox) or Danny Galton (guitarist). Both of these guys are so well versed in many styles and they showed me that you dont have to limit yourself to playing just one style of music.
How long have you been playing guitar?
Since the age of about six.
Do you play any other instruments?
I can tinkle on the bass, drums and a little banjo.
What are your favourite bands?
The Jam, Manic Street Preachers, The Stray Cats, The Clash etc etc, too many to mention.
Whats the best part about being in a band?
Freedom of doing what I love. Doing what I want when I want, creating music and being your own boss.
Whats the worst?
Opposite of the best? Pretty hard to fault really.
What would you do if you werent a musician anymore?
Become quite depressed I would imagine.
Whats your favourite chord? Why?
Dont really have one. There are so many. Many amazing sounds and chords the guitar can produce but, a diminishing 7th always strikes a chord in me??!! Why? Cause it just sound good. OK.
What sort of gear do you use?
The guitars I play are a 1961 Double Anniversary Gretsch and a 1963 Gretsch Tennessean. I have a Fender Dual Professional Amplifier and I use 2 x Ibanez tube screamer pedals and 1 digital Delay pedal. Simple as that.
What made you choose to play Gretsch guitars?
I love the way they look and they sound mean and dirty.
Whats your favourite book?
Dictionary.
Whats your favourite TV show?
Batman movie the 1960s one.
Whats your favourite venue?
Revolver rehearsal room.
Who would you most like to play with? Why?
The Manics because they have such amazing songs, live shows and incredible history.
Whats been the highlight of your career so far?
Meeting Brian Setzer was a helluva highlight.
What would you say has been your best show?
Pushover 97 was pretty rockin.
Do you feel you have to take responsibility for possible interpretations of your music?
I believe in the songs I write, so yeah I guess that Im responsible for the message, but not for the interpretation.
What was the first song you ever wrote?
"So Lonely" off Hellbound. That was Scott and my first attempt at songwriting.
